What rpm to pull hills ?

I normally need to pull hills around 2300-2500. Low 2,000's it might keep speed, but normally needs to be run higher. Under 2,000 it's gutless on a hill. That's part of the reason I'm going to 4.10 gears. I need the lower gears to keep my RPM's up.

    Centurion Bronco build

Looks awesome. So what did you do with the floor considering the floor kick up? Also did you just move the axle and mounts? Your roof seam will be much improved over the centurions of the day.

You putting crewcab rear doors on or going to use modified front doors? Looking great. Pics work for me. What about the cab right now makes you think it needs to be stiffer?

I'm interested in the Pistons and rods. I'd also be interested in a n/a balancer if you have one.

    Ether cause this damage?

Interesting. I've got a 180k idit engine in the shop that used 1gallon of oil to 100 miles. I'm kind of interested to pop the heads on it now to see what it looks like. I have no clue what would have caused that.

    Name that part!!

Yes the radiator overflow mounts behind the drivers battery on this bracket first. Then the strap that holds the overflow in place also holds the washer bottle. This bracket slips into the battery tray bracket and bolts to the fender with the two holes.

    Name that part!!

Deals with the reservoir bottles behind the battery tray on drivers side if I remember right. Let me see if I have a picture. It does mount behind the drivers side battery tray. Drivers side battery tray. The end of it slips into the bracket hanging off the end of the battery tray. This...

89 CC build thread Frame off resto!! - Bad Idea

I've read about changing gears a million times. It seems like it's one of those jobs that isn't that tough, but experience goes a long ways. I may just change diffs out. I have a 4.10 rear and front 60 sitting there. Neither of them are install ready though. They need paint and gone through...

89 CC build thread Frame off resto!! - Bad Idea

small update. Truck weights 7600 lbs with 5 passengers and fuel. So little lighter than I thought. Empty mileage appears to be around 13-14. Not real good, but I have been driving aggressive. I'm guessing if I stay out of the foot feed maybe 15? I still get smoke until the turbo spools up. I...

    t-19 4-speed fluid type?

IDIot - that's a small block ford in the boat right? Distributors at the "front" :D:D:rotflmao I don't even build race engines. Interesting on the royal purple I'll have to look at that. My US gear seams loud when in OD over 65mph. Might try it there first then propagate it to the NP205 and...

RUHT RHO, SHAGGY. 94 7.3 dissassemble.

Truthfully I'm not a fan of the turbo engines. I'm not sure I've seen enough benefits for using the special rods in them. Not to mention if you keep factory balance and now are sourcing 1-2 year only balancers and flywheels. Now the turbo valves I'd reuse if I could. If it was me i'd do a...

permanently plugging the thermostat housing bypass port/ball thing, what to expect?

This was my thought exactly. International reservoir tank was really high. Otherwise how about drilling a small hole in thermostat flange to aid in air purging? I see it talked about a lot in any thread dealing with thermostats. Especially in older cars.

    t-19 4-speed fluid type?

So I was looking at switching my t-19 4-speed over to sythentic gear lube and started reading about guys running 50w engine oil, 15-50 engine oil, GL-1 gear lube etc in the transmission. And Novak adapters says not to run sythentic in the t-19 because it's a waste of money. So what oils are...

What do you thinks up with the injectors? Seems really weird. You put them in pretty recently didn't you? Thanks for the good pictures. Neat to see what people find when they pull an engine down. Hows the crank look?

    engine stand mounting opinions

I pull the adapter plate off. A local guy I knew was building a 7.3 IDI on a stand and had it bolted to the adapter plate. His adapter plate broke and the engine fell. After that I figured I wouldn't use the adapter plate. Not sure if he was missing bolts on the adapter plate or what, but I...

    Project NEW TOW RIG

You can, but it ends up being more custom. I have an RSK on the front of my 89 using 99-04 superduty springs and mounts. In the end i have a truck that is the factory height for an 89 F-350 4x4, but has the shackles in the rear. I guess the other thing you could do is just do a factory...

    6.9 Superduty

I'm not understanding how the glow plug controller and IDI tach need the TCM. The tach runs through the TCM, but doesn't need the TCM to work. Also are you going to use the factory cruise system from an older truck or the super duty? I think the Older cruise may pull signals through the TCM, but...

    Meyer plow mount

When I was looking I checked eBay and craigslist. Another place would be the forums on plowsite.com. (I think that's the place) Mounts were going for 200 up when I was looking. I'm in Iowa. Otherwise you might be able to make another mount fit your truck, but I would only be doing that out...

Bent frame leading to bumper/tire clearance issues

How's it drive? Does it eat tires? I would probably start by measuring diagonals on the frame. Measure diagonals from matched holes on each side of the frame and see how they compare. Then you might get an idea of how bad it's bent and how far back it's bent. I'd be interested to see if the...
