Batteries load tested ok but voltage dropping

Sounds like it turned over fine to me for 35 degrees. Do you have any dead glow plugs? Also what's your timing set at?

    IDI dies at stop lights

Metering valve. Do what russ said. Then run an additive for several tanks for fuel. My 93 did this also unless I had additive in the tank.

Motorcraft fan clutches from rock auto

Laser, I finally said the hell with it and ran my truck this summer pulling and didn't watch the temps and for the first time swear I heard the fan kick on and off. I also put two pieces of factory weather stripping in between the headlight plastics and the radiator support. So may be those...

    '94 lumbar support air bladder

My seats are in a crewcab. I undid the bottom plastic "zipper" and slid the bottom fabric up some. The horizontal detail lines in the front of the seat for me were hog ringed onto the foam. I cut the hog rings and removed the upholstery. To reinstall I used zip ties to reproduce the hog ring. I...

Has anyone gone to 3.73 final drive?

Ive run the numbers a bunch and the difference between 3.55 and 3.73 is like 5%ish. But 3.55 to 4.10 is like 15%. So if 3.55’s have you running 2200 rpm. 3.73 jump to 2311. And 4.10 to 2530. But the 4.10 gears should transmit more torque to the ground. Thus reducing strain on the drivetrain...

Best ip and injectors for towing?

Ive pulled car trailers with cars and tractors on them behind my crewcab for years with 3.55 gears. I can pull at stupid fast speeds under 7000lbs. Heavier or larger windmass is where i struggle.

Best ip and injectors for towing?

Walker 21471 is the muffler i used. Its for 4” tube. If you plan to put over 8,000lbs behind an idi frequently i would do 4.10 gears. I feel like we are fooling ourselves trying to pull 10-12k or more with 3.55 gears in these lower hp diesels. If we are going to pull big weight then set it up...

Rarity of crew cab short bed frames?

Yeah, your on the right track. That's the way i'd do it. Could cut your frame down to the length of one of the factory short beds but if you can buy a factory frame reasonable fairly close, I'd go that way.

Best ip and injectors for towing?

I run 4" exhaust from the 3" downpipe all the way up and over the rear axle. I ran it like that for years but the drone was a killer. I added a 4" walker muffler that took out the drone. Sounds good, but no drone. I pull my 9,000-13,000lb 10' tall by 30' long enclosed trailer with my 89...

    AC Help

I agree it's probably a bad clutch, but I'd go ahead and ohm out the existing clutch quick since it's easy. And even try jumping 12v to if it ohms out OK. No sense replacing it if it's not bad and wasting the time.

Luk smf kits all the way. Never any issues. My dmf was torque limiting me and slipping when pulling.

I ran these wheels for years and never lost a center. Not sure why though. Mine were new take off when i got them. So if you have new caps i dont think you will have much issue.

    cab corner plastic interchange

I did a search, but couldn't find it. Has anyone put 1995 or so cab corner plastic in like an 89 truck? I'd like to get the speaker mounting location. It all looks similar, but the top shoulder belt mount seems to stick out on the newer plastics, vs on the old it's flatter. Might just need a...

    Quick Increase in Blowby

yeah, I would wonder if you're rings are coked up also? Might want to do a compression test and see if it's across the board or just a single hole. I hope you can get it back without a rebuild.

    Lug Nuts

How do your center caps attach? Factory centers attach to the rim with 4 tabs. Those look like aftermarket caps. Some of the aftermarket have a metal ring in them that friction fit on the lug nuts if I remember right. I'd go to the parts store and look up factory lug nuts for like a 96 F250. I...

Laser- i wonder about for testing. Make a solid fan clutch and see what it does. If it helps then more effort towards a 6.0 or horton style clutch would be good. I wonder about some custom parts using an ac compressor clutch as the center?

F250hd always preached oil coolers. They would help pull heat out of the oil thus pulling heat out of the engine. I would wonder about an oil cooler. Ive never went the intercooler route because of the added heat. With my 093 and stock pump i have temp issues on a hot day pulling. I think the...

    Question for the rebuilders

I cleaned up my factory wiring, but I was keeping the factory dash and drivetrain. I did clean out the E$0d wiring since I went manual. If your going custom drivetrain and dash I'd say anything goes.

Laser - How's your ac work? Does it keep the cab cool when pulling down the road? My crewcab blows cold air, but it's like the cab either is gaining too much heat or looses too much cold. Just wondering how your truck does. - Jeremy

    Project Big Red

I painted mine off. If it was a heavy metal flake or pearl i'd say paint them on to ensure consistency. If you paint them off you can paint the openings while you paint the outside of the panel. Then paint the doors. Keeps it easy and no need to jamb it and mask it. Looking good.

Good deal on the bed!!! I think that's a great way to go. Nice score! So on my bed which was storm damage, but rust free from california I put por 15 on the pinch weld before putting it in service.
