    Spin the oil filter off and pressurize the cooling system. If it is an oil cooler leak, it may come out where the filter mounts. As for your charging situation, most likely scenario is that the brushes are stuck from the thing sitting too much. Try whacking the alternator with a hammer.

    I've thought of that. But some guys have already bought a case of XYZ filters, and don't like the idea of paying for a filter. It's the whole "filter as a commodity" thing, which requires extra time and a willingness to converse about it.

    You are correct. And that IS what happens to a lot of trucks, even factory intercooler setups. The oil can end up in the bottom of the intercooler and impact performance. Best option if you don't mind breathing like a dragon a little bit, is a road draft tube.
