I’ll take the wheel off tonight and check this. This would asses whether they’re over torqued right?
I haven’t greased anything, not sure about the mechanic but I doubt it. When I take the wheel off I’ll grease it. White lithium? Where exactly would you apply it? Obviously you wouldn’t want...
Sunday, when driving, after coming down a steep grade and using the brakes I hit traffic and started traveling at about 5mph. During this I heard a pretty loud squeak that came from what seemed like the front drivers side wheel. It lasted for about 5 minutes and when I started going faster it...
Thank you very much.
I did notice that one of the pictured return lines (furthest back) looks a little longer and like it’s a slightly different line making me suspicious that someone replaced that line only at some point.
Do you think I could get an o-ring that would fit at the local Napa? I just want to have something on stand by in case it gets worse on the long drive. Plus, now that I kinda touched it and what not I wouldn't be surprised if it gets worse :idiot:
Noted. So if I were to buy the kit from Wes for example I'm going to be replacing the cap as well so it wouldn't make the issue worse when I replace it then?
When running I looked and a small drop of fuel built up on the rubber line. Can I just replace that bit of line? At least as a short term possible fix?
Looking over stuff on the engine since I’m preparing to drive to Moab (2000miles RT). Do these two Injectors appear to be leaking? I see obviously some amounts of diesel possibly from the rubber lines (return lines?). I’m curious if based on this photo if anyone could confirm whether or not...
Wrenched on it going tight and loose and it didn't budge. Almost started to kind of twist... the type of thing that happens right before old bolts shear off so I stopped, checked to make sure the entire thing was tight. It was. Moving on. haha
I guess its hard to tell in the picture but it's not snug. I'll snug it up, thank you! It just looks like a long bolt so given that I'm new to this engine I don't want to crank down on anything especially looking long before I know exactly what it does haha
I was just familiarizing myself more with the engine when I noticed this bolt that looks like it should be tighter and has some sheared bits of metal on it - which I never take as a great sign. Should I just wrench this down a little more? it looks like it would control where the pulley sits I...
I'm not going to lie, that website is absolutely daunting hah. I went on there and it doesn't seem very user friendly. I wonder what he's using in his stack. Assuming its on the window panel not a replacement for the dash.
Brought it to a local mechanic today just to get another opinion and a once over. They felt like it was a great truck and seems very solid.
Guess it's time to start moving on to the fun stuff! Like adding cab roof running lights
Per the radiator fluid... this might be a stupid question.
Should I top off the radiator and top off the reservoir to the hot fill line? I only topped off the actual radiator, the reservoir has a small amount in it right now like 1 inch maybe.
Thanks for all of the input and replies!
Glowplugs: I believe I'm the 3rd owner of the vehicle and the first owner installed the bypass system so I have a button that I push for about 6 seconds depending on outside temp.
Coolant: The level maintained well, I didn't go straight to the top...
Hey All,
I just got home to California after finding an 86 6.9l f250 in Idaho and driving it back. The truck has 148,000 miles on it and it seems to be in pretty solid condition. Fuel pump busted on the drive home and I replaced that. I burnt through probably almost a half qt of oil on a...
