Compression Tester On CL 50 bucks

If that is the Harbor Fright version, save your money. I bought the HF kit, and the threads were so poorly cut, that 300psi would have probably launched pieces at bullet velocities.

Tool for cutting open oil filters?

It is an indicator of engine health. It also gives you some time to devise a solution for impending engine failure, should you find metal shavings inside, as opposed to finding out while driving down the highway. I always inspect the inside of every filter I remove, aircraft or vehicle...

Tool for cutting open oil filters?

I work in aviation, and have a $150 cutter designed for aircraft oil filters. It will not work on my IDI stock filter because the filter's internal threaded hole is much too large, and the aircraft cutters are too small for a 4" diameter IDI filter. I could modify something, but I already...

Tool for cutting open oil filters?

only if they come with a first-aid kit:rotflmao I can only find chain-type pipe cutters that go to 3.5 inches, and my oil filters are 4" O.D. I could modify them, but I'd rather find a better tool. Ebay has heavy-duty cutters, but they start at $70 and go up to $300, not including shipping.

Tool for cutting open oil filters?

It would, but as 87crewdually said, it adds metal particles to the filters. the exhaust pipe cutter is a neat idea, and cheap.;Sweet;Sweet;Sweet What else is everyone using?

    Leaking injector BODY

WORDS OF WISDOM. I recently installed a Pensacola IP for a friend. :puke::puke::puke: Nothing but problems. Pulled the top cap off and found the fuel shutoff solenoid heavily cracked and breaking apart. When activating the FSS, fuel would bleed out from the cracks. It wouldn't...

Got a borescope, what to look at?

All my vans are 7.3 IDI with e4OD and all engines and trannys are assembled on working vehicles. I got the scope originally to check the fuel tanks for bacteria. None found. Although the van I sold had some. I've pulled one tranny pan and scoped around, nothing the least bit unusual...

Got a borescope, what to look at?

Borrowed a borescope, fully articulated, 5/32 dia probe, 4ft long. no camera or video though. What should I inspect with it? And how to get to the inspection area? Intelligent answers only please... Yeah, my oil filler cap thread wasn't all that amusing.

How to identify a remanufactured engine?

I was crawling under one of the vans today, noticed a big white "remanufactured" tag on the tranny, and found the other vans also had remans. Didn't find one on the engines, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough? The vans were covert U.S.Govt assault vehicles, and got the best of...

Super Clean F350 CC on GovLiquidation in OH

Always take a good look underneath. If it has been forklifted, most likely damage will be bent driveshaft, a bent/crushed transmission pan, fuel tank, and running boards. Some transmissions may receive much more damage than just the pan. If a fork was placed under the fuel tank, where...

Anyone want to give me 20k?

Apart from the 4x4 and maybe the lift, you could easily do all the other work yourself, and have it customized to your specific desires. Instead of the pop-up roof, I'd just get a fiberglas hitop from a junkyard. Much less work and no leaks.

Need bacteria cleaner that works fast & cheap

I've already killed em. The problem is removing the dead bodies. The filter didn't stop all the bodies, and when they entered the IP and injectors, the glue-like bacteria locked up everything. I've dropped one fuel tank, and need to hand-scrub it clean, but am still looking for a...

Need bacteria cleaner that works fast & cheap

I tried biobor. It killed the bacteria, but left all the dead bodies still in the tank. Some of the bodies made it through a new filter and into the IP and injectors. Those dead bodies are like superglue. Once they sat inside the IP and injectors, they locked up everything. Only hours of...

Need bacteria cleaner that works fast & cheap

I've decided to completely clean out the entire fuel systems on five vans. Take apart every component and hand scrub each piece, replace lines, filters, etc. One van has a fair amount of bacteria, and I suspect the others have lesser amounts, because they all run fine. I've tried numerous...

    EASY fuel tank filler

Isn't that a vent, albeit with a ball-type roll-over valve. My 94 E350 has two of those on top of the tank, and a similar valve attached to the steel filler tube which is welded onto the tank. I an disassembling a fuel system and borescoped the filler tube. At the end of the tube is a...

    Pensacola Parts

The jury is still out on my recent PCD IP. I installed it, ran the van for a 20 minute trip, and shut down. Next day, won't start because all the injectors are locked up. Disassembled the injectors and found it was impossible to remove any of the needles. Took a lot of ultrasonic baths in...

    Eight bad injectors?

Thanks for the tip. I expect I will need shims. If I can find a spare steel injection line, I will weld that to a generic fitting and attach that fitting to my pressurized bottle of diesel. Or, even more unlikely, finding a fitting that connects the steel line to the IP body, would also...

Injector return lines leaking - missing the line damper, possible cause?

I just tack-welded the nuts to the line clamps. Squeeze the two clamp halves together with needle-nose pliers and install the bolt. It makes life easier, especially with a van. Of course, being an aircraft guy, I also bead-blasted them and coated em with zinc-epoxy polyamide primer...
