    torque values

97 f250 e4od OEM ford flexplate is supposed to show up tomorrow, so what are the torque values for installing it? flexplate to crank? tc to flexplate? e4od to engine? transmission cross-member to frame? Thanks

    Shudder at take off

A lift kit changes the drive-line angles and length of the driveshaft required.

    Shudder at take off

driveshaft slip joint lubed? Surprised you didn’t have to lengthen the driveshaft after installing a lift kit.

    TC, flex plate, transmission?

My luck replacing just the TC and the transmission will go ruining the new TC. Once I get the flexplate in its going to be a wait and see approach.

    Broken crank

cracked flex plate....changing out the flex plate in my 97 right now....simulates a broken crank/bearing easily

    TC, flex plate, transmission?

The OEM flexplate lasted 207k miles and 22 years, still stock, so I'll throw another ford flex plate in there.

flex plate removal - how to hold crank?

Got the transmission/t-case away from the flex plate enough to start removal of the bolts. What's the best way to hold the crank stationary while I back off the bolts?

As 79jasper said, you can "test" the relay by jumping the large terminals, a jumper cable clamp works good for this. If it suddenly starts good you can label the relay as "toast" Also the entire length of the GP should glow cherry red within 10 seconds. Just the tip wouldn't pass in my book.

    TC, flex plate, transmission?

Yes. I would be nice if it was that easy. I pulled the truck into the garage, as soon as I gave it any pedal the noise went away. Almost certain it's going to be the flex plate.

    TC, flex plate, transmission?

I have seen a video online of removing the transmission about 4" and having enough room to replace the flex plate. Might try it.

Because glow plugs can meter "good" but hardly glow at all. The only way to truly test unknown glow plugs is to pull them and apply 12v....the entire length of the plug should glow cherry red within 10 seconds

    TC, flex plate, transmission?

TC nuts are tight. I'm leaning towards the flex plate being broken.

    TC, flex plate, transmission?

I believe it's the flex plate moving around. Sometimes there is no noise and other times its a terrible racket. I can't see the crank as there is a spacer ring between the flexplate and the block. I doubt it is the rear main bearing as the truck has 207k miles and has been maintained well.

HPO pump, injectors, LOL ! the OP has no idea the condition of the glow plugs or relay but lets throw expensive parts at the problem. A new set of glow plugs and relay would be around $150 and would be first on my list if it was my truck.

    TC, flex plate, transmission?

This is on my 97 PSD Started out with a grinding noise only in P R D 2 or 1. No noise in neutral. Now I've got a horribly loud grinding noise in all gears, so loud that I am thinking it is eternal to the transmission or torque converter. So I am thinking flex plate? The truck drives and...
