So I had an idea and I didn't know if it would work or if anyone else had tried it. So on my truck my Fuel selector valve doesn't work like on many other obs ford's. I was thinking if I welded a couple ports and connected hoses to link the tanks together if it would work as a way to bypass the fuel selector valve. I was thinking having the pickup on the bottom of the front tank and the return go to the back and link both of them together to level them off.

Lots of semi trucks do this already. Just tap at the lowest point on both tanks and they'll level each other out. Only downside is you may start sucking air with both tanks with 3-4 gallons in each.

While you can do that, my suggestion would be an electric pump to transfer fuel from one to the other. At least that way you don't have to drop the tanks at all. If you get a little creative with the wiring you can still swap between sending units and see the level in both tanks.
