Has anyone cut a SRW bed to accept the fenders for DRW?

I have a very nice SRW bed that has some wheel well lip rust. Seems to me it could be cut out and then install my DRW fenders to end up with a very nice DRW bed.

In my mind: Remove fenders from DRW bed. Lay paper over bedside and trace the outline of where it is cut. Transfer template to SRW bed. Cut and reinforce if necessary. Attach fenders.

Something tells me it may be more complicated than this. SRW bed has dual tanks. I haven't measured to see if the DRW fenders will cover the area where both filler necks are.

The cutting is simple, lots of people have done it that way, you will need to extend the filler necks for the drw fenders

Because the filler doors are on the dually fender.

Yes if I’m not mistaking the fenders will and should cover them but you will have too extend the filler necks like Thewespaul said but simple measurements should be able to tell you if it will work but I don’t see why it won’t work

The filler necks currently on my DRW truck should work, no? Might maybe have time this weekend to take a fender off and look.

Yes if it is a DRW truck and has the DRW extended filler necks then it will go together no problem like it was from the factory

I was finishing Wes's sentence for him to complete the answer to the question of whether or not the dually fender will cover the doors on the SRW bed.

I did this very conversion on my truck. I found a DRW bed in the junkyard where the sheetmetal around the flares was in good shape (the rest of the bed was TRASHED; how the flare area was so nice I have no clue). I cut the bedsides a few inches outside of the flares. I used the outside skin only (as the inner skin and floor is the same DRW vs. SRW). Cut the SRW bed for the DRW skin; the joint was the same as the profile of the flare. Welded it all together and bolted the flares on after. I extended the fuel filler hoses of the SRW truck as I didn't pull the hoses of the DRW bed (brain fart on my part; I just cut the hoses when I cut the bedsides). I was pretty happy with the result. With a little filler it would look better but I didn't have time to do that then.
