Well picture me swearing a lot. Ordered a 100amp alt, it had to come from Edmonton. Left work, raced to the parts store, they bring it out and the box is beat lookin and wrapped in shrink wrap. So I cut it open to have a look. A couple fins on the fan are bent, and it's got a serpentine...- Redneck

Couple quick alternator questions
what's a 3G? I don't have an idiot book for this motor, where's the voltage regulator, and how do I test it? When I saw what the alt was putting out, I was checking it at the post on the alt, and at the battery, alt was 12.30V and battery was 12.28V. Guessing the regulator was between those...- Redneck

overheating and poor mileage.
good luck gettin' er back happy again...you listed 525km from two tanks loaded? or was that 525km each? I did victoria to mckenzie last fall in my f250 with a jampacked camper on the back to go hunting and was getting in the neighbourhood of 500km/tank...- Redneck

Propane injection
I've spent the last 4 hours researching propane injection for my 7.3...lots of how to do it, lots of "you're gonna blow yourself up!" and only 2 or 3 guys who say it works. I've found a couple who say vapour injection didn't work, but liquid would. So oldbull8, did ya do it? And how'd it turn...- Redneck

Well bring your tall truck up and I'll take ya out to wheel it. You'll soon understand why guys who run trails don't lift their trucks any more than necessary. And yeah, I can see how you'd think that a cheap functional truck would look cheap. Dunno about unsafe...lower truck means lower COG...- Redneck

Aggie, I say they suck cause I've been wheeling for about ten years, in everything from an f250 to a samurai, and I know a thing or two about off road performance. 1-body lifts suck. There's a wide variety of reasons, beginning with the big gay ass lookin gap between body and frame, the added torque on body mounts on a truck that already has 60%+ of it's flex coming from the frame, and the extending of brake lines and assorted linkages, the ****** lookin...- Redneck

If you're that attached to a 5 bolt, convert a 60 to five bolt. It'll save you money in the long run. Don't waste time with a piddly little 44. I see guys break stock 60s with a 4 cyl and 37's pretty regularely, so I wouldnt mess around with a full-size diesel and big tires unless it will...- Redneck

Glow Plug Questions
I just did the bypass he was talkin about yesterday. Go to your local jobber and buy a heavy duty continuous duty solenoid. Man, just do it! It's totally worth the couple hours it takes, to jump in your truck, turn the key and have it just rumble to life that quick, with no dicking around under the hood gettin greasy fingertips...
