How did you get into an IDI?

The exact years I cant say. My unit was one of the first in Europe to get the HUMMV's in the late 80's. My understanding was the ARMY ( other branches may have same complaints) were the 6.2 didn't have what they were looking for in performance. This started the 6.2 N/A to 6.5 NA to 6.5 Turbo...

How did you get into an IDI?

My IDI started with GM 6.2 and a generator project running off of SVO /WVO. I won an auction and ended up with 18 of them @ $65 each. All had come out of HUMMV's when they did the 6.5 IDI upgrades. As for Ford, a friend of mine was helping another friend sale his 92 F250HD. When he dropped the...

    CDR valve ?

valve cover leaks, oil pan leaks . When I replaced mine, which looked like it was the original at 228K I had driver/passenger valve cover leaks and small oil pan gasket leak. I replaced the CDR, driver valve cover stopped leaking and I re torque it. Passenger leaked less, so i replace gasket and...

    Coolant reservoir full

I would agree with the others on isolate your current issue first and resolve, but I did exactly what you have parts for (radiator, thermostat, hoses, heater hoses). I flushed my system with distilled water several times (I believe I used 16 gallons total of distilled water in the drain/flush...

    Non Tilt Steering Column

I swapped out my tilt auto steering column on my 92 f250. I watched as many youtube videos on disassembly and cleaning, reassembly I could find. Did a time versus cost , I bought one from this seller on Ebay. The link is for your column I believe. Mine was cleaned lubed and in perfect working...

    Rodney Red Radiator!

I just installed a Cool Master 3 Row Aluminum Radiator $175.00 make offer bid and free shipping. All the welds look good and its built like a tank. OEM match up on every bolt hole. I did swap out the aluminum transmission hose connectors for steel I made for it.

    Coolant reservoir full

Well I just replaced my radiator and thermostat in my 7.3idi. I would suggest the following: 1) remove radiator cap 2) start engine let run, if you still have a working fast idle, the temp switch opens at 114F range to give you an idea where your temps are at when the fast idle goes to parked...

    85 Rear Fuel Tank

If you pull your bed off, swapping in a rear tank not that big of a deal. I just did the 38G upgrade on my 1992 f250. 18g would much easier due to size and dimensions . I also had to pull the receiver assembly/ install the tank/ and then reinstall the receiver. I was going to replace the front...

Braking Stiff only when Applied Urgently

Yes it will ... you want to make 1/4 turn adjustments on the push rod. You will also get get real good at removing the master cylinder and putting it back on. When I did mine I first did it by the spec length of the push rod ... not a good idea.. way to much and front brakes got hot ... backed...

    Gunson pulse adapter

I bought one off ebay and the actual pulse adapter was to small, I bought a tinytac 1/4 peizo adapter and it worked great with the gunson and my timing light. Others have bought their gunson and they had the correct adapter. YMMV .

Interest in gauge pods for bulls and bricks?

On my 92 F250 OBS I'm running a glow shift 4 gauge pillar pod 52mm gauges. It fit perfect . Ebay has 3 gauge going at $37 and 4 gauge @ $43. I wouldn't think you would be able to affordably compete in that market if your starting from molds on up. Glow shift also sells a 2 gauge pillar pod...

    Need a lil help 93 n/a parts

For the air intake funnel, some take them off . Some say leave them on due to they actually help cool the air being sucked in. I leave mine on.

Post up your custom fuel pump/filtration setups....

I thought I'd be slick and put inline fuel filters prior to the selector valve to keep trash out of the new selector valve. I did a 38G upgrade on the back and used the stock 18g side. Any RPM over 2200 was causing the filter light to come on and would actually act like a vapor lock and stall...

Braking Stiff only when Applied Urgently

Reading through the threads, I had a similar issue after redoing complete front/back brakes( calipers hoses drums rotor hoses drums wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and switching to a electric vacuum pump, still had squishy pedal, and had to pump it. What most were pointing at was the RABS, but...
