THANKS for the help, friends. I'll purchase the new cylinder and save the reseal kit for the next time. As always the people at this forum are the best.
Peace...
Happy belated Thanksgiving.
Working on a skidsteer and pulled the leaking tilt cylinder. Is it a losing proposition with the pitting/scratches on piston and the interior of cylinder?
Sanded it with 1200 grit and some oil, but still feel it with fingernail. Thinking maybe a new cylinder is the...
1995 F350 Dually 4-door.
I know this is the IDI section... but that's where all the best help is to be found.
Hoping I can just use an aftermarket vac canister and tie it in, after high temp duct tape on the blower box. Just don't know if there's a line going into the ac blower box near/through...
After zf5 swap, couldn't get downpipe to slide in, but wanted to test shifting.
<10 minutes later... STUPID TAX
Melted the housing of AC/blower.
Anyone help with routing of vaccum cannister box?
Here is my incriminating evidence:
Previous pics are from Ford oem assembly. Brake bushings need to be replaced. So I went with Amazon Warehouse for 30 dollars. Wasted time.
Solution? other than fixing original (saving it for next truck)
Welding both ends through the nut to the arm and rod, and nut/rod/clutch pedal on left side...
Quality Chinese Made Junk...
Purchased a clutch pedal set from Amazon. Thinking how bad could it be?
Had it in and out 2x before I realized why I couldn't bleed the system.
The clutch arm has grooves that sit in the main shaft
Doing the swap... and have made the errors so you won't have to do it, too.
When attaching the slave to the tranny and throw fork, I could get about an 1/8 inch from success but never could make it work. Hours worth of effort, with multiple helpers.
Finally a seasoned veteran shined light on the...
Miked... its true. The e340 crossmember is very close to the one I used. Your angle info and work required can be done... with effort.
Now for those frame holes.
The auto frame hole is bigger. I thought originally the zf5 wouldn't work with the original bolts. But it all fit. And the auto truck...
Kansas IDI... you are definitely most correct...
here are the crossmembers.
Top Automatic e340
Second is the f450
two lower ones are the zf5 from 1990 and 1995 (lighter brown one)
don't know why but the bottom one with that funky weight had the center tranny mount holes a tad off.
Also,
the frames of Auto vs Manual tranny are different? Hope not.
Mike, you said the frame where auto crossmember goes is wider? And you drilled that bottom of frame center hole?
Slowly the swap grows in difficulty...
Thanks, Mike. Looks like it might not be as straight-forward as i hoped.
Surprised the f450 ZF5 2wd didn't look anything like the older IDI I have. Waiting on the 95/96 powerstroke crossmember and will attach pic of it vs the other two.
Working my way through E340d swap. I know it'a a 95 powerstroke, but the IDI guys know more... here's the link https://www.oilburners.net/threads/zf5-swap.94413/#post-1157938
a 2wd ZF5 crossmember doesn't fit a 1995 F50?
Does Ford not pre-drill mounting holes on frame for all trannys, regardless...
Thought the crossmember from a 1994 f450 would work. It doesn't. I have one from a 91 IDI and it is different.
Anyone know if the 1995 powerstroke crossmember is specific to year(s)?
Also, the IDI has a counterweight near the tranny mount?
