    Thanks for replies. The pinion nut was tight, very. Still don't know why yoke/pinion slipped back. I'll pull axles and try to see the inner bearing. Your experiences makes me think I may not need to send it out or replace much. (I hope!) If all okay, new seals and crush sleeve.

    Disconnected driveshaft and removed front bearing. Great Shape. The nut connecting the bolt to Yoke/pinion running back to gears was tight. Remove rear axles and check the inner bearing? Does that bearing just fail and shift rearward?

    No go at this point. I think maybe the FSS is not engaging completely to open. It clicks, but not very loud when i give it 12V. Before swapping the entire pump, that seems like a decent gamble. I'll check the forums for FSS swap -- i have another pump. Any other ideas?
