Glow plugs heat at hot start

One upgrade I did to my controller was adding an oil pressure switch - as soon as the engine has oil pressure the GP's are turned off. For hot start, just jump in and crank - oil pressure is almost immediate so no burn. I have had this fail me once... at the bush overnight at -25 C... truck...

+1... I just use a very large metric ;) adjustable wrench and a good hunk of hardwood. Couple of whacks and its done.

Holley Red are garbage, what else quickly?

+1 on the Walbro. I have been running mine for years and never a problem. I also recommend pinching down the fuel return at the fuel head (the air return orifice) and slow the pump cylce down. Best upgrade I have done! I don't need no steenk'n cup holder...

    Wheel bearing question

Make sure your bearings have preload or you will get growling. I had this problem and thought it was caliper vibrating, maybe the hub not disengaging and spinning the axle... turned out I needed a 1/4 turn in on the bearing and never had an issue again.

    Block vacuum

I welded up a "Banks-like" fitting on the IP cover and remounted the cdr. Details are in my "turbo tale" link. I had deleted the vacuum pump (hydroboost install) in preparation for this so my install might not work as well for you.

    Question about glow plug controller

I believe the controller times out and GPs are off, maybe after 10 or 15 seconds of cycling. I have done that to run my electric pump and to bleed injectors (cranking engine) after servicing the IP. It is really easy to pull one wire off the controller to disable it though.

    Trade trucks?

"I don't need the extended cab since my dog won't ride in it" Get a real dog, someone who really loves you (cause a 'real' dog is a someone). My suggestion, a truck like yours is a status symbol, your reveal to a quality of life and care that is not represented in a chitty F150 with a big...

    Got me some tire chains

I have a set of semi chains with v-bars. One pair for the front of my truck and between that hugely powerful diesel (read "heavy") and those chains I can go through anything. That, and the Warn 8274 on the front, means I don't quit :fight: I seriously have a love affair with chains; 4-wheeler...

    Unconventional CDR Mounting Ideas

I made my own unconventional installation - first I welded up a modified IP cover to accept a hose, second I replaced the vacuum pump with an electric making room to install the CDR where it was. I will reply with pics. This might not be as applicable to yours (v-belt) but might give you some...

    The ultimate IDI starter?

I put a Powermaster in mine, very happy with it. I think the Powermaster 9050 is considered the best (premium) option for our trucks.

Installing the Dana 60 into the project.

Similar process when I installed mine! (link to my build below)

Will I be happy with these headlights?

Can you post a link to what these lights are? Is it a bulb, or a whole fixture replacement? The Rockauto link above takes me nowhere. I would really like an upgrade, but one that does not **** off others.
