Anyone done a large aux c6 trans cooler?
I have had a tube and fin type on my '85 6.9 Banks turbo C6 for about 15 years, in front of the condenser. Mine measures 13" wide by 9" high. C6 fluid change advice?
My '85 F250 4 x 4 C6 has 270,000 miles on it and is fine. I have used Red Line D4 full synthetic ATF since 1998 when I bought the truck at 140,000 miles. Tips to: tighten/loosen through bolt solo?
I use Gorilla tape to tape a box end wrench on the side difficult to get to, usually up against something to keep it from turning, but most times Gorilla tape alone does the trick.- Jim993

Thread locker orange vs blue for fan clutch
The reason the fan clutch is LEFT hand threads is so it won't come off. Any kind of thread locker will make removal MUCH more difficult the next time. My '85 Factory Service Manual (Engine)(6.9) says nothing about thread locker for re installation of the fan clutch assembly onto the water pump...- Jim993

Anti Cavitation test strips and bottles where to get these days?
I've been using acustrips for over 20 years. I make them last at least three years by keeping them sealed in an airtight container, in another air tight container -- double sealed.- Jim993

R-134 accumulator?
My truck was converted from R12 to 134a in Spring 2020. Same condenser, new compressor (old was leaking) and new dryer. Works great. August 2020 we drove from CA to AZ, 109 degrees at Needles hauling 1000 pounds in the bed. We were and are cool in the truck..- Jim993

Got vacuum? It won't shift normally if the belt driving the vacuum pump breaks, the vacuum pump dies, the vacuum adjusting valve up by the IP is defective, a vacuum line gets interrupted or the vacuum modulator on the transmission goes bad.- Jim993

First start after swap..Sealing water pump and bolts
I would do it one bolt at a time. Have a same size bolt ready to lightly screw to keep the coolant in while you put sealant on the bolt you just removed, then switch to the sealant coated bolt. You will lose a little coolant at each bolt, but not much.- Jim993

blinker fuse keeps blowing
I had a similar problem a few years back. After a lot of diagnostic work found nothing. C6 trans temp?
The green band on my F250 4 x 4 Banks transmission temperature gauge starts at 170 and goes to 240, yellow starts at 240. Yellow is from 240- 260, then red. any 6.9 fuel water separator alternatives?
Mine was bypassed 23 years and 120,000 miles ago. Fuel only goes through the stock 6.9 filter. No issues. I do change filters every 15,000 miles and look for water at that time. Never have seen any. I also use Stanadyne fuel additive on a every three month or so interval and the truck is...- Jim993
