clutch safety switch
You might check and see if the retaining ring is stuck in the firewall. Happened on my ‘93. Beyond that, you can get a motorcraft OE CSS, at least I did from rockauto. beyond that, the bypass from the auto’s or rather blockoff plate works too. Crew Cab Headliner Removal
To be perfectly honest, the EASIEST way is without a front windshield. Thats how these things are put in to begin with. At least on modern rigs anyway, can’t see why it wouldn’t be the same. See if a local glass shop will do an R/i for cheap.- Hobbywelder

New to me 86 6.9l - What now?
I can definitely vouch for Autometer gauges. I have ultralites air-core. Work fantastic. Just a thought, once my truck is warmed up, coming off the highway, Stopped at idle I see about 1-2psi oil pressure difference with and without the AC on. at the rate im going I might, I might need a new brain and sanity too. I will let you know tomorrow. I traced wired today and alls well. So... i just decided to replace the solenoid because I put a generic one on last time I had starting issue. if that doesn’t work, im out of ideas. Key causes...- Hobbywelder

Funny you mention that, because I do have tilt steering. And I did find that I had a broken ignition switch and replaced it (parts stores all had it in stock), the interior parts of the steering column are good. Its also a rebuilt one Which helps. -cussWell dang it, that didn’t work..... Either that or the harness is bad which I did de-pin 2 spots so maybe. Just a footnote, I did replace my ignition switch, have power across the board and can jump by bridging the connections between the starter solenoid so all I have left is the CSS...- Hobbywelder

Ill know shortly. I picked up 3 of them from a ‘90, ‘92 and ‘95 so one should work lol. Plus a spare harness in case, which I can see someone at least tried to bypass with.- Hobbywelder

Nothing much has really changed. The basic process is the same. tools, techniques, procedures have all been advanced. Standards have tightened. pay hasn’t changed really. Hours are harder to come by because insurance has found way to cut us at the knees.- Hobbywelder
