Do you remember which MTL weight you went with?

    ZF-5 shenanigans

Not usually, just slow. By that I mean it takes more time from 1-2 than any other gear

    ZF-5 shenanigans

I certainly could try that. Hadn’t thought about it but couldn’t hurt. Now that you mention it, is there any adjustments that can be made from the clutch pedal on? ‘93 m/y

    ZF-5 shenanigans

Is the amsoil syncromesh still the go to or is it just the normal run off the mill synthetic ATF fluid? https://www.amsoil.com/p/manual-synchromesh-transmission-fluid-5w-30-mtf/?code=MTFQT-EA

    ZF-5 shenanigans

Good evening folks, looking for a little insight - Mercon V is the fluid recommended trans fluid correct? ive been told to run 75w gear oil in its place, either a useable idea or an absolute disaster waiting to happen. What is safe to run thats perhaps a bit heavier in weight or better for the...

    clutch safety switch

You might check and see if the retaining ring is stuck in the firewall. Happened on my ‘93. Beyond that, you can get a motorcraft OE CSS, at least I did from rockauto. beyond that, the bypass from the auto’s or rather blockoff plate works too. Be aware of leaving it in gear, or making sure you...

    Zf5 swap and engine swap

Not to hijack this thread but, why a zf5 over a zf6? i know the 6 is a bit of a pain to put in and would require further modification.

    Crew Cab Headliner Removal

To be perfectly honest, the EASIEST way is without a front windshield. Thats how these things are put in to begin with. At least on modern rigs anyway, can’t see why it wouldn’t be the same. See if a local glass shop will do an R/i for cheap.

New to me 86 6.9l - What now?

I can definitely vouch for Autometer gauges. I have ultralites air-core. Work fantastic. Just a thought, once my truck is warmed up, coming off the highway, Stopped at idle I see about 1-2psi oil pressure difference with and without the AC on. That with my ‘93obs gasser so diesel may not see...

at the rate im going I might, I might need a new brain and sanity too. I will let you know tomorrow. I traced wired today and alls well. So... i just decided to replace the solenoid because I put a generic one on last time I had starting issue. if that doesn’t work, im out of ideas. Key causes...

Clutch switch issues - how to bypass it?

Funny you mention that, because I do have tilt steering. And I did find that I had a broken ignition switch and replaced it (parts stores all had it in stock), the interior parts of the steering column are good. Its also a rebuilt one Which helps. I broke one 4 years ago. I totally forgot to...

Clutch switch issues - how to bypass it?

-cussWell dang it, that didn’t work..... Either that or the harness is bad which I did de-pin 2 spots so maybe. Just a footnote, I did replace my ignition switch, have power across the board and can jump by bridging the connections between the starter solenoid so all I have left is the CSS...

Clutch switch issues - how to bypass it?

Ill know shortly. I picked up 3 of them from a ‘90, ‘92 and ‘95 so one should work lol. Plus a spare harness in case, which I can see someone at least tried to bypass with.

Clutch switch issues - how to bypass it?

Hey folks, im looking for how to bypass my clutch safety switch. Its gone bad, again. ive tried a few different methods without damaging the connector but im not getting anywhere so im wondering if someone else has done so with the 6-pin connector. ive also heard that the auto trucks have a...

dull clear coat solutions anyone have any info?

Nothing much has really changed. The basic process is the same. tools, techniques, procedures have all been advanced. Standards have tightened. pay hasn’t changed really. Hours are harder to come by because insurance has found way to cut us at the knees.

dull clear coat solutions anyone have any info?

Its better to be a little timid than gung ho for polish work. Spray wax does help with the shine without question. 3000 will take a bit of effort to even burn through clear (unless its modern standards for corporate....). If after buffing it isn’t shiny, you have 3 options. 1: leave it alone...

dull clear coat solutions anyone have any info?

IDI is right. the best thing you can do aside from stripping and repainting is take -3000 grit wet/dry sandpaper Sand lightly with glass cleaner or water, until it seems (when dry) like its hazy - compound, careful not to burn the paint. Ensure all the scratches are gone. - polish, again...

    Swap cab or swap motor?

Hey everyone, just something im curious about. i want to swap a 7.3 idiT into my ‘93F250 SCLB with 351w and M/t. ive been pondering how I would do it; im wondering if its easier to pull the cab and swap those on the same cab/bed size truck. Considering I would need to swap the dash anyway. I...

    dash panel clips?

I have the same issue. I am working on a solution but its probably a heckuva lot easier to just buy a new one from LMC. i have found that a particular door retaining clip is long enough and fits just about right into those holes. Couple of hiccups: first being the holes are slightly too...

    Cummins 6.7 in obs ford

Truth be told, a 5.9 12v or 24v, a 7.3 idi or PSD is the most straightforward swap. Other swaps are certainly do-able, but will require more modification and cost a good bit more. Just curious, why put a 6.7 cummins? Im not super cummins savvy, but last ive heard is the heads like to walk...

Autometer gauges - GTG or avoid?

Folks, Autometer gauges, as a whole do they produce good products or should I look elsewhere? I have seen people put in the Phantom gauges and like them, but I am wondering of there other gauge series are the same quality? - Air core gauges specifically, I won’t run manual lines, been...

Wiring swap - what do I need to know

Now that I truly don’t know. I do however have the 1993 factory service manual with Diesel components so I can always look up the wiring. Granted its a convoluted read compared to modern rigs. What it sounds like, is the easiest option is a 92-94 idi with manual trans. In that case I...

Wiring swap - what do I need to know

Folks, I have what I assume is a relatively straightforward question regarding wiring. I am pondering a 7.3 idi or idiT swap for my ‘93 f250 that has a 351w with manual trans. What I would like to know is: Do I need to re-run all the wiring for the truck from the diesel counterpart or is it...

‘86 6.9, worth it or hold out?

That would explain it. I live in the rockies, and sometimes speed is important, and others the low end grunt and high gears make or break a trip.
