This came along at potentially a great time for me, my 6.9 gave up the ghost in July and I've had trouble finding a rebuildable one that's not way overpriced. But, about four months before mine blew I put a Moose Jr. on it, I'd at least like to be able to use it to save a little money even if I...
Thank you, I've checked the trailerlife website and their towing guides just go back to 1999. It's amazing how towing capacities have increased throughout the years, especially with the announced 12k towing capacity of the new F-150. I love my 86 F-350 but at 8k I'm right at my limit and...
Just out of curiosity, do either one of you happen to know what the towing capacity is for a mid 80's 6.9? I've tried to find it but can't. And I agree, that trailer loaded would be a bit much for that truck, especially trying to get it to stop in a hurry.
I'm looking for a 7.3 IDI, posted earlier in the thread about it and just sent you a pm. I'm in Tennessee as well on the eastern end of the state, not sure if you were near my location or not.
Where are you in TN? I'm looking for a 7.3 IDI to rebuild and replace my 6.9 with. I'm just outside of Knoxville, if you're close enough I might be interested in buying your IDI engine.
I have an 1986 6.9 that's blown and am looking for a used engine and am thinking about going with an IDI 7.3. I found one out of a 93 that was mated to a manual transmission but can't seem to find an answer if a c-6 will mate up to it. I would assume the back of the 6.9 and 7.3 were all the same...
One of the pre-cups came loose from the head and damaged the deck of the block, put about a quarter of an inch, half moon impression in it. Is it possible to repair the head and what kind of work can be done to the heads so none of the other pre-cups come loose? I realize it's probably a fairly...
I'm looking for a 6.9 block but would certainly consider it in short block or long block form. Any idea how many miles were on it? Mine dropped a precup at 186k and damaged the top of the block of the block. I'm just outside of Knoxville, TN. so shipping might be an issue.
If the gentleman above buys the 6.9 heads I would be intersted in the remaining short block. I actually just need a 6.9 block but would be interested in the full short block assembly.
I don't mean to hijack the OP's thread (although this may be beneficial to him as well) but what would cause a starter to have to cool down before it will spin fast enough to start the truck? My truck will start fine when it's sat for a while, even after sitting a long time, but if I run it for...
