Best forum to ask questions is here. My friend is looking at a dualy with 68,000 miles on it for $51,000.00 on a lot. Pics look nice and it was used for hauling horses or livestock. She wants it but I can't recommend it without asking those that probably know more about rigs like this. I know nothing about newer rigs.

I know trucks are expensive, but $51,000.00 for a USED GMC? No Way, get a new one for a bit more (OK maybe Quite a bit more).

Amazing that people are so willing to sign up and volunteer for slavery isn't it? Best advice I have for anyone contemplating spending this amount on a vehicle,is to don't do it.

What is she looking to do with it?

I've got a '16 Denali 3500 DRW sitting in my driveway.. loaded.. lifted.. sitting on 24" american forces with a bunch of extras... built trans with receipts.. just over 16k miles on it. It could be had for a steal.. friend that owns it wants out from under it. Its a gorgeous truck.

The LML has been a fairly decent engine but like all of the newer diesels it is loaded down with emissions junk. The biggest hurdle with the newer diesels is maintenance and keeping up with it, and the expense.

The price may be a little high but that may be because of where she is. My best friend just bought a 2017 CCLB 4wd Denali 3500 SRW that had 4,000 miles on it for 57k.

This lady is an Arabian horse trainer and will be using the rig to haul her aluminum 8 horse trailer bout 9000 miles per year. She wants a diesel because she has always run diesels. Usually drivers the Ford F350 but bout 9 years ago purchased this 2005 Kodiac 4500 crewcab diesel. I drove it to Tulsa in 2008 with no issues but heard a injector knock that no dealer mechanic could hear. Then next year bad injector blew off the tip. Ruined turbo and engine. GMC GAVE her a new engine and 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. Well next year the turbo let go in New Mexico. She limped into Albuquerque and GM sent "mechanics" from Detroit to fix it. Just last month in Kingman check engine light on so GM mechanic told her an 8 hr job to replace turbo accumulator valve. She had the light reset and drove on to Oklamoa City where nothing was found wrong with turbo but... AC was shot to hell and carrier bearing fell apart replacing it. $2800.00 later she is done with GM trucks.

i remember this case.
I have to say, outside of the issues easily dealt with under warranty, I've been really impressed with the Ford 6.7 Unlike it's previous buddy a Dodge 3500 with a Cummins 6.7, that thing had a love affair with the dealership. The motor is bulletproof, but not so for everything around it. I'm pretty confident in suggesting a Ford product again, she'll love the upscale F550 King Ranch and it's ability to tow. But as always, get an extended warranty with any newer truck.

I can't recommend duramax's. I have (had) two friends with them. One ended up having the truck at the dealer so much they bought it back. It was a myriad of issues with it fuel leaks being the final straw. My other friend had his to the dealer multiple times for smaller issues then suddenly the transmission took a dump on it the other day. Neither of these guys work these trucks that hard. The engine may be okay but like the dodges, it seems like the truck around them is suspect.

My 2 cents worth. I would have broke my buddies balls over his the other day if I weren't in the process of pulling the new engine out of mine. [emoji849]
