my 72 roadster when I finally let it go, almost a year after the fire.

life changing> moved an hour away from the farm aprox 2 yrs after, did all my own clean up as what I thought would be "therapy" .
dad was boiling maple sap for my brother (bank exec.) in the newly finished shop, almost lost dad in the fire.

I forgot how bitter I was after the fire. moving away improved family relations!

mangled up my back bumper, had to jacknife the trailer in reverse to get it turned around on a slippery hill. got really lucky turned it 180degrees and had it pointing downhill almost straight. some driving skill involved but a lot of luck and a lack of damaging the vehicle fear was a big help.

was hoping to make a run to Sarnia to pickup a 2001 E350 chateau for parts but never got a call back.:dunno its a non running v10 with only 200,000km and would have made a great chassis/body donor.

the good side in between snow days

2 hours isn't far when you live in Ontario! a good 7 hrs into Quebec to the east and probably 30 hrs from here into Manitoba.

and you thought Texas was big.;Poke

my last trip to the territories took me to Whitehorse in the Yukon real close to 4000 miles. :peelout

I'm back in NE Oklahoma now.
I hated Texas because it took so long to drive across. Lol

well I'm picking up the 2001 E350 on Sunday. communication problem, now we have each other's phone numbers and its all sorted. just hoping for little or no snow when I'm haulign the trailer empty. snowbank up to my headlights in the driveway. got hoem at 3:30 am and wasn't sure if i would have to walk from the road.
at least the roads were open tonite, 86 was closed from listowel to Walkerton wed night, satyed at my parents farm only 10 min from work.

have an interesting idea of building a 2003 E350 diesel chassis I have in reserve (240,000km) into a 4wd and using this 2001 body on it. I have a van Dana 60 front housing but its empty other than the gears and somebody torched the trailing arms off it.

if I can use enough bits of this parts van it might just work . I always liked the wide look of the E550 cube van Ford built for a few years with factory flares and wide bumper on the front. 35-37 " tires would look OEM........

better get to bed, have to blow snow at 9am so the wife and kids can get down to the city by noon.

ok I'm picking up the parts van Friday around noon.

big snow and constant squalls brought last weeks plan to a halt.

I also found a 2001 E350 clubwagon diesel with under 160,000 km on it near windsor and showed the Mrs. she thinks we should go look at it when we pick up the parts van. she wants me to buy the low km diesle and take mine off the road. Damnit she has a good point, but the funds will come directly out of my shop build fund if i do.-cuss

I'll take some pics or get her to take some pics..............:idiot:

after I got it home, I have a 2005 E350 in need of a front bumper, and wheels and tires. its even same colour....................
no body parts worth salvaging, but interior is very nice and even a power drivers seat. turns out this was the original owner. hooked up my booster pack and it fired right up, drove it onto the trailer. runs nice! all in all a decent $500 parts van.

I my diesel wasn't such a rusty pile I would swap the entire interior out.

looks liek I swap out the headlights, we attempted a polish last week but they are brown now and polish didn't do much.

Barney hauled it with no issues, except when a car slowed me down under 80km/50mph and had no turbo boost for the hills.

wish I lived in the south, I would be able run my old van forever. just keep replacing rear ends and trans until the motor gets tired.

did a major service monday 517785 km , FL1995 and 14 or so litres of 15w40 rotella T diesel, was on sale at the TSC for 19.95 for a 5 litre jug.
pushed it to 11,000km this service. wasn't sure if i would be driving it this winter much but snow is here a few days and then gone so it keeps going. chunk of the L side rocker is almost rotted off and can see the rear AC and coolant hoses through it:joker:. if I keep driving it I'll have to do rockers in the spring, have a full set of good doors for it now but they are all commercial white.:dunno

Since you are getting your oil at TSC you might as well get the house brand Traveller 15W-40, in the states it's made by Warren, I have seen analysis of the oil showing it is actually better than Rotella in terms of it's additive package, I use it it all my diesels (I change on the severe schedule and the savings matters) farmers around here have been using it for decades. Hope your van lives forever! My old Benz is like that, she just won't quit. When I think she's losing power and about to give up, she seems to sense I'm not paying her enough attention and she starts running better- feels that way anyhow!

haven't updated for a while. 545,### now. its on borrowed time now. plate sticker expired in Dec. got pulled over a couple weeks ago and the officer said he wasn't going to ticket me but I should get a new sticker. was driving it today planning on an hour trip to parents farm and working on my trailer but high wind gusts and me using the whole lane and soem of the shoulder of the 2 lane highway we cut our trip short, did the shopping in Listowel and headed back home. last few services I've been using the bulk semi synth 15/40 at work as the boss is making it very affordable.
getting a replacement ready for this summer but its not a van, its a 97 crewcab with a powerstroke. I have a lot of scrap hauling to do this summer but I will not put a safety on this old girl so I had to get a replacement ready. my 14yr old daughter is a little upset about me retiring it but she knows why.
basically it needs major quarter and rocker panel and rad support work, several doors replaced, a rear end, a steering box , oil cooler, rear tires, windshield (not much roof left around it)and some other small things to safety. its done! just found my last annual safety in the van today was in 2014 and 420,*** on it. if i didn't have FARM plates on it I prob would have been pulled off the road by now. might drive it another month or so but not in high winds!:rotflmao:idiot:
I'm gonna miss Barney . it still loves to pass cars on 2 lane highway. might save the eng/trans for a future project it runs so damn good.

I actually used the front barn door and headlites off that blue parts van on this and the rear barn door off our old service van from work.

I'll have to take some recent pics before I tear it down.
