If your looking for a better deal than this give up now. This is the best deal I have seen for lifters. Just call around and price them at Rock Auto or International or Ford or GM. These fit our engines and they fit many others like the psd engines too. Never have I seen them offered for $6.50 each. Even if you don't need them now. Having a set on hand later will save you lots. the cheapest I have seen these for a set of 16 is around $150.00 on ebay. Why wait to spend more later on. Once again I have a spare set so I wont bid on these.. Unless I win big on any lotto I play...

Is it recommended to change lifters when you swap in a new cam, such as the one Russ sells?

No but for this price how can you not do it. Sometimes Russ will recommend the lifters be taken apart and cleaned if your reusing yours. they do build up some varnish and can stick. Being a boller lifter with the needle bearings makes them almost harmless to the cam lobes. the older bushing bearing type are no longer made nor wanted for these engines. They were known to stick and flatten the lobes.

Gary what do you recommend for install? I always stand them up in a tub and soke in oil for a couple of days, is that ok for these?

i'm not Gary, and not nearly as experienced but i'm pretty sure just a light coat of cam lube or oil is fine. If you're worried about they being lubricated you can crank the motor with cables to avoid GP failure. Definitely don't pump them up pre install.

I like to oil them but not prefill them. They are fed by so much volume of oil before they start up that I see them filling easily on their own. Just make sure the engine is set correctly before the rockers are tightened down. Its very tuff to push the oil out of a filled lifter and the lifter at the top of the cam lobe. Our shop factory manual tells us to find top dead center number one cylinder. See that on the dampner timing tab and the dampner line. The short fat mag probe location is the zero degrees of top dead center location. Now crank the engine in a clockwise direction till the dampner line is at the 11 o clock position. Now all the pistons are below the top of the stroke no matter what cylinder we are on. Now you can SAFELY tighten down the rockers without fear that a pumped up lifter will cause a valve to contact a piston.

I emailed him and he said he had 60 or so left and has now put the ad back up again.

I just bought 32 to have enough for 2 engines, and left about the same number for someone else to get

Got the lifters today, the rollers are not middle bearing. What do you guys think? My opinion is I'd rather have the middle bearings over the bushing type. Any help would be a greatly appreciated.
