I'm building a confused rig, started with a 1953 International 1 ton pick up truck, added a 1991 Ford F350 to the mix (for the 7.3 IDI and ZF5). Now to show my work thus far;

I think it will be an interesting project although I had to cut up the cab a bit to make it work :(

It's been awhile since I was last on this site and I guess I should give some updates on my build. The cab,front fenders and grill are fully attached to the frame. I have the wiring pretty much finished as well as ALL brake parts replaced. I still have to deal with the clutch and brake pedals as I want them to look original coming up from the floor rather than hanging off the firewall.

I also have a windshield coming for it that will finish the body for this year, paint will be next year (I just want to drive it).

Personally I would not paint it. That hides all the character all those years have been layed down on the body. Why cover that up. Pretty shiny paint is like taking home a good looking date only to see what she REALLY looks like the next morning with no makeup on... Woozer is what you might be saying...:eek::D

Awesome! I'd scrub it with CLR to get most if the surface rust off then just keep it waxed. Can't replicate that patina.

It's ok everyone the "paint" I intend to use is nothing more than clear coat to keep the patina from getting any worse than it is.;Sweet

i wouldn't do the clear coat. rust needs to breathe. I'd do a acid wash over the rust to break it down some followed with steel wool and gun oil or any light oil. that will keep it happy at a low roar.

prolly was what was used to clean this in WW2 after a dip in the English channel before arriving on a french beach.
all I do now is a little oil and steel wool every now and then. still shoots straight.
