3" Body lift and clearance issues..what are they?

Well with my situation of wanting MORE damn it anyway...MORE LIFT...MORE engine, More radios, MORE *** MORE of just about everything....I have a issue with the LIFT currently

I have in stock, a set of 3" body lift blocks and no bolts. I also have a nice brand new set of poly bushings for my Bronco.

Now while my engine is OUT and I have an unmolested fire wall, I'd like to work on clearancing the fire wall and any other area that I'll need to do for the turbo install...

My theory was to cut the lip off and weld a patch panel all along the body seam?

Here you can see the unmolested fire wall, I know where to clearance for just the turbo DP but I was thinking of cutting that seam right off. Whatcha all think.

Also, seeing as I have a 3" lift available, NOT the recomended 2" does anyone have pictures or clear description as to where to clearance? If need be I can take a different picture of the fire wall that you could edit in paint to show what you all mean.

Anyone's suggestions on clearance and where are welcome please.

Yes I can tell you the exact issue. Your drivers side head will hit your firewall. Illogical as it may sound, this is where you will have a contact problem. At 2", the head is about 1/4" away from the firewall. At 3", the head will be well into the firewall. Bending it with a sledge hammer is probably not going to be the best. I'm not sure where this area is, but it's bound to be down by your feet and or pedals. You may have an impingement. A 2" lift gives you the best of both worlds, and no need to bend or clearance anything for a turbo.

Mel, I have what I have...3" and since it's what I got, I will use it as opposed to purchasing something else. It came with a bunch of parts I bought so cost is NILL...hammer n so forth...NILL cost..willing to mod/massage fire wall as needed prior to the install JUST for this reason cause I can and with no engine it's a breeze to do!

Mine took about the same, although i think this weekend im going to pull out the grinder, and just cut that corner out of the cab, and put a new piece in place.

For the OP, the part that will hit, is about 2 inches to the RIGHT of your speedo cable, where it goes through the floor, the area is about 3 inches wide, maybe 4, and from when i can see about the same top to bottem. I expect ill be cutting out a roughly 4x4 inch chunk for the clearance.

It bugs the hell out of me knowing that i mangled part of it, and its not going to stop driving me crazy until i do it properly *going to rebuild the Dside floor board and inner rocker panel at the same time*

I installed a 2" BL for turbo clearance.. The head is SUPER close so I'm sure I will have to take a pry bar to it . Also , at 2" my lower rad hose is wanting to collapse ... I might have to remove it and cut a bit from the engine side to make it shorter .. I'm sure this would just be worse with a 3" lift .

Are you wanting 3" blocks just because they are free? I would cut them in half to 1.5" and sell the remaining half to someone else that needs a body lift. I've trimmed down free blocks in the past to get a 1" lift.

Starting here first...NOPE want 3 " cause it's for MORE tyre clearance on compression when stuffing axle up into fenders front or rear...clearance for MORE BIGGER TYRES 1.5" not enough!

PLEASE o PLEASE o PLEASE take lots of pics...lots n lots of pics and maybe we can make a build schticky for 3" lifts???

It would drive me bonkers too, having to hack/smack it to make it work...the reason for this thread...take the time to do this correctly and do it one time! I wont mind some cut/weld if it makes clearance better. Also gotta consider most of tub is rust free so may as well cut now and patch accordingly and paint/undercoat/bed liner what have you as planned!

No worries on that, I'll be playin with hoses and some tubing to make it work if need be also planning on Electric fan mod as well!!!!! so no worries bout fan shroud n fan contact!

There is clearly much more cleaning and painting for me to do as I can see from these images thus, I don't mind a wee bit of cut/patch etc.
