Well I found out the box started out life as a Watson and then when they got bought out by brown-lipe it became a brownie with the C30-***-xx-*** PN stamped on the side. Then Spicer bought out Brown-lipe and shelved these units in the 70's and discontinued production.

Wow, that's an elderly critter there. Thank goodness seals and bearings are generally a universal fit type deal. If anything else ever folds on that thing, I think you'd be outta luck on parts, thankfully the way they're built, it's doubtful it'll ever break. Keep synthetics in that thing just to be sure.

Yeah this thing is very very old and obsolete. Luckily the gears look good but the thing could use a reseal job because it weeps in several spots, but the shaft seals are holding good. I guess with these units the 3 speed ones aren't as common. Usually the boxes this size were usually 2 speed, Direct and OD.

I've got everything set so the driveline smooth so for now the brownie is staying. I still need to make up another shifter for the left side for the D and OD brownie shift rail. The double rail shifter that came with the thing doesn't clear the getrag.

Took the truck to prairie city today with Crashing Zuk. Uploading the vids right now but the truck did better than I expected off road.

I decided to ditch the brownie and pulled it after the trip. The truck cruises nicely on the freeway without it now that I have the Getrag 5 speed in there...

Here's a quick vid. Locker seems to be gone and front is open so had to take a few different angles at it. The ticking sound at the beginning is now fixed, was found to be the fan touching the radiator.
