Feel free. I knew some people who used to have a pet iguana. I always called it "Gucci". I though it would make some woman a nice purse. My saying is "There's two kind of snakes, live ones and good ones". Feel free to use that one too.

Lol. I have a pair of frankenboots now. Lol. No bud I'm kinda average size build and shoe size. 5'8" maybe a lil chubby and boot size a modest 11 e. Well this white boy was dancing and slinging and defeating the purpose of the mud boot putting new freshly cleaned socks in the mud going after that snake with the old boom stick. I really don't like snakes. My granny always swore I would shoot a suspicious looking garden hose in tall grass before taking a second look. Lol. Just looked at them boots and appearantly I couldn't remember during the excitement which boot the snake was in cause they both have holes in them! Nitro mags always do the trick though. Lol

Well back on topic, my fault, I derailed this 1st start thread with my snake post.

Anyway, SPEAKING of snakes, I tried to "snake" my "repaired" glow plug relay harness back into place and 2 out of the 4 Accurate Diesel blue barrel ends CAME OFF the wire (they DO NOT crimp down securely and I tried, lord knows).

I wanted to like them, and I tried to use those little blue connectors and the heat shrink end but, they do not fit well and dont make a good connection.

Conclusion: THUMBS DOWN I don't like them or recommend them.

I didnt even attempt to re-install the drivers side as I gave the others a tug and they came off in my hand, and that does not a good connection make.

I wasn't to confident in them anyway.

So, I am just going to do what I should have done last week. Im going to order the Classic Diesel Designs Wes's repair upgrade glow plug wiring.

Why mess with the rest, I'm going with the best.

Ugh! Horrible! I'm going with one of Wes setups myself here real soon. Go ahead and transfer ur last post to hall of shame for that brand! I goofed and got eBay injectors and pump as Idiot mentioned. They still work two years later, but seem like I have to pull the injectors every 6 months and crank down on the barrels so that they quit leaking! And I have turned up the pump 3 flats with no change in anything. Best to go with recommendations here. Cause the "snakes" are the cheaper parts, they come from behind and bite ya!

Hpop, on an idi?

Somebody on another forum advised me to drain my hpop to get all the old oil that has been sitting so long and put new fresh oil in the hpop? I dont know how to do this as I dont believe I even have an hpop on an idi, from the service manuals I am looking at? Besides changing fuel filter, engine oil and filter and flushing the block with diesel to remove soot, sludge and old oil, is there anything else I should replace or clean out before I do finally attempt 1st restart? Just want to make sure I'm covering all the bases.

I don't know what he is talking about as far as an "HPOP" You don't have one. "HPOP" is on a Powerstroke. High Pressure Oil Pump is used to pressurize the motor oil to actuate the injectors.
All you have is a normal oil system for the engine. And your Injector pump.

Thanks. Yjmike92. I edited my earlier post just now as I was looking at the idi engine service manual this morning and it did not show a hpop. Then I saw your response and looked at the powerstroke engine and saw the hpop. Now, it makes sense. The guy must have assumed I had a PSD and had not read my vehicle description. No worries. Im just hunting down "snipes" lol

For crying out loud the suspense is killing me. Just fire the thing up already!
Exhumis my Oilburner brotha from anotha motha'... and all you others that hit the LIKE on this response, LOL

Relax. Breathe. Twisty turny your bodies into a YOGA pretzel :)

Say "Omenamme Compadre' OM"....whatever you need to do.... (btw, I dont have a clue what the "HE-double toothpicks" this means or why you should say it, or even if, I spelled it right but, its supposed to relax you- ha!).

Anyway, its a effort in progress folks, and so, I say this respectfully, as I know your just giving me grief from all my redundency, but.....

Its not YOUR money on the line if I frick it up, its mine. Thats why I keep asking questions, figuring ON "what if" scenarios, etc.

Just sayin'.... :) I'm getting there. Its finally stopped raining here AND the TORNADOS stopped too. Did ya'll know just a few days ago, IN MY AREA of the country, over 30 plus people died from the twisters that were whipping up around me here in the #theDEEPSOUTH.

Well, now ya know, so, weathers cleared up and I got out there in the dry and the blue and I pulled apart the entire OEM harness for the glow plugs today in anticipation of the IDI CDD theWESPAUL replacement harness (since the Accurate Diesel bullet ends were NOT the solution to my flakey, breaky, OEM GP ends) and now that Wes's IDI GP harness is on its way and should be here by Friday...I'm preppin' again... and during this process, wouldn't ya know it another snafu to track down...today I noticed fresh oil all around the back of the top of the block and it was not there before I changed the oil.

I did not spill excess oil but since I flushed the block 2x with diesel, and then did the new oil/filter and fuel filter, some new leak, weep, seep, has occurred. I'm out there again tomorrow and doing more prep. for THE WESPAUL GP wiring arriving.

Now, god bless you all, and rabablami, salomi and mazzaltoff.

LOL, this "crusty, diesel monkey, is doing the best I can with this "fix it yourself in your mid 50's" all.

And btw, I'm trying to make it an adventure not just a destination and laughing all the way, actually crying as my wallet keeps saying why am I empty all the time :(

I'll for sure keep you all posted, if ya'll will keep readin' as I KNOW ya'll "really do want the best for me and my dinosour van".

Have a good night folks, "the old as dirt asphalt cowboy" is going to get a shower and the diesel goop off...

Have a GREAT Thursday, All!

I'm sorry, but I feel that this is impossible. Since you didn't spill, and you haven't started the engine yet, the only places that could leak are the oil pan area or the oil filter. Anywhere else would need oil pressure in order to get oil up there and you haven't had oil pressure yet.

Go look for the 'torque screw' and if you have one, back it out 1/4". That may well be your problem.

Well, Im glad your direct and put me on the spot. Your saying you feel "it's impossible" actually, leaves one other possibility. The only other thing you made me think of that I had forgotton I had done was, after I wrote this and now reading it again. I had previously sprayed PB Blaster around the glow plugs BEFORE removing them the other day.

Its got to be the PB that I sprayed liberally at each of the base of all 8 GP's, that the accumulation of all the PB, eventually, finally all trickled back to the back of the intake and CDR area?

Good call and thanks for making me rethink the source...I had forgotton I had sprayed GPs since we had 2 rain events and a few tornados that came through (been a few days) and I hadnt been out to the van since I R&R them after spraying them.

You know some people say that dealing with the engine compartment in a van is their worst nightmare because of the tight quarters, but with the seats and the doghouse removed, in some ways I prefer dealing with mechanical issues and leaks in a van OVER a pickup, because at least, on a van, you can see and get access to, both the front and the rear of the engine.
