As some of you know, I recently replaced the oil cooler orings and replaced the entire unit (thanks Towcat!!). what a major PITA, though the next one will be easier.
No leaks in or around the cooler, but a small puddle of power steering fluid has appeared, I tightened the high pressure hose and it slowed it down a bit.
That's not good enough for me!

I read that the hose has a Teflon washer on it, not a oring.

Do I need to replace the hose? really? crap!

I'll call around tomorrow, unless there's a fix.

Thanks in advance,

LCjeff

The high pressure line has a tapered fitting. No o-ring. So You might as well just replcace the line. The return/low pressure side has an o-ring seal.

What?

Seems to me that the low pressure line is a rubber hose with a band clamp. :dunno
It's on the bottom of the pump.

The high pressure side is a hard line connected to a hydrolic hose, seems to me I saw an oring on there, then maybe I'm mistaken. cookoo

It comes out the side of the pump.

Are we talking about the same critter? :dunno

my very own hell
A new hose is about $25, if that - I'd think it's a cheap insurance against potential trouble with the old house (blowing it up really).

I have a 94' frame that has the powersteering unit still on it here in hollister. If you want any of those lines, just come and take them off the truck n/c. Pass on a favor when you can. Just let me know if you want to come by, I am a stones throw.

teflon ring #

From the invoice,

" *388898*S Seal $2.05 + $0.19 tax" for Arnold.

Let me know if I can be of service, I'm less than 10 miles from Ford and another 30 miles away. (truck specialty)

Now to install the hard teflon ring, the parts guy at Ford said to warm it in water to expand it a little to ease installation.

We'll see,

LCjeff

PS please add the oil cooler orings as well while your at it,
From the invoice,
Big one, 1C3Z*6K649*BA
The smaller one, 1C3Z*6C610*BA

SOS

Same old s#$%!

The white ring is the one I got from Ford, the black one was on the hose.
Replaced oring, no more leak!
When I called Ford they said that there are 2 types, they would be happy to refund my $2.00 and they have a drawer of orings I can dig through.

My neighbor had the proper size oring. cookoo

And yes there is a small cut in the old oring! :sly

I can't get to the band clamp on the return line, otherwise I'd check it too. cookoo I may have to remove the pump to get to it
