Holset HX40, Schwitzer S300, HX35/40 hybrid, DT466 with a slightly smaller turbine side.

PSD turbo is a pain to adapt. Talked to Area Diesel about what would work in the 300-450hp range.
I didn't know if Area Diesel in Carlinville was still in service, I heard they were going through some trouble as of late, but I don't know. I live right on the other side of the Illinois river from them and had always planned on making a visit but had never made it.

Yeah, I bet JD injectors would work, you can put them in the Cummins, but i'm a traditionalist in saying, if it aint red it's dead. If it comes down to it, yeah I'd use them, but, I really don't want to if there's something else out there. IH all the way.

Area Diesel is doing fine, just talked to them yesterday.
That's great, I wanted to get on over there before something happened. They're supposed to be turbo specialists, so I need to make a visit. Where at is Steger, Illinois? I live in Pike County, if you know where that's at.

If I could find a combination that would make 15lbs of boost efficiently from 1500 RPM's and up. I'd be extremely happy.

I can already over fuel @ 1500 rpms. Mainly because I can't get any more than 5 lbs of boost.

try a bigger turbo? ive never overfueled even with the banks, but when i took my IP off it was already turned all the way up so im not sure why that was..

For 15psi by 1500rpms' I'm thinking a sequential turbo setup is basically the only way to go. Unless you have a crap ton of fuel your not going to be able to spin a big enough turbo to make that boost efficiently. You can spin a small turbo that fast, but it will be out of its efficiency range.

I drove the parents 6.4 last night. With the TC locked in OD, it can make 20psi at 1300-1350rpm's. Any more throttle it will downshift. To bad we couldnt really use there setup as it has a VGT turbo I think...lots of fab to make that work.

The 6.4L is twin turbo, i know the 6.7L Cummins and maybe the Duramax use VGT.

Edit:

The 6.4L has twin turbos but the smaller turbo is also a VGT

Not true. I have worked on almost every deere diesel and they are nothing like this.

MAYBE a nozzle tip, but I doubt it.

Ats 093 is a T3 flange, the T4 is a little bigger both ways. I have made plates to adapt either way. 1/2 inch thick steel. laser cut.
A smaller turbo will spool faster but then will be a restriction in the exhaust flow at high rpm's. I have that problem now I am sure as I can hit 1200* real easy under load at 13 psi. I will hook up my wastegate again and see if it changes.
My son is working on a stand alone VGT controller for his mercedes, he has a D-max turbo for it.

Them 6.4's pack a lot of power stock, once the boost comes, it just knocks you back in your seat. The only problem I've got, is the six speed is harder to speed shift than the old five speed is. Somebody described it as "shifting like a semi" and I would have to agree. It's fine if you take your time, but when I drag it, it's easy to miss a shift.

Has anybody found out what the flange on a turbo off of a International 466 motor is? I'm really interested setting up a turbo kit with one of those.

Ok setting all performance aside we need big injector lines so our IDI can idle like this ;Sweet : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTjZ-_jTzSM&feature=related

Oh that we be awesome :D

Uh I hate that! Part of the reason im goin P pump on the 02.
As for the turbos I would avoid the earlier mentioned HX35/40 hybrid and the HX40. The shaft used in these has been proven to not be up to par. I am not sure if any of yall are gonna move the kind of fuel it would take to hurt a HX40 but to be on the safe side a much better choice would be the S300 based turbo. If you want to go compounds then a external waste gate should be considered.
As for the PSD turbo I badly wanted to go that way on my S-1600 but as has already been said it would be a helluva job if you want to mount it in the valey. My number one turn on to the PSD turbo was the warm up valve and its use as a exhaust brake. It would be cool to see it done but I hate to see money get spent on a turbo thats next to impossible to mount correctly.
When doing my S-1600 turbo I had five good turbos to choose from... ATS non-wg, 99-03 7.3 chassis cab turbo, 99.5-03 7.3 turbo, HX-35, and a HY-35.
I chose the HY because of ittiny WG equiped exhaust housing and its ease of mounting to the ATS oil return.
With turbo injectors and pump cranked 100% the motor will not exceed 900* at #8 with 14psi no I/C.
The only issue I am having with the HY-35 is its waste gate is factory set to limit boost to about 20psi. I have to adjust the turn buckle on the WG so far out that the WG is slightly cracked open at no boost. At about 13 psi the WG opens a bit more and limits boost to 14psi. I need a WG with a softer spring that will fit the turbo.
I hope this helps some body a bit. If there are any questions on anything in this post im happy to try and help.
