yea but they still dont turn higher than 4000rpm which ours can do easily.

The engine will spin that high, but while the GM will chug to about 3600 rpms, the 6.9/7.3 takes a dump after 2900-3000. hesutton was talking about the hp curve during the last meet and it pretty much falls on its face there.

Hey Justin, I checked out the youtube video of your truck with the busted exhaust. Sounds good. But it looks like you and dyoung are total opposites when it comes to driving style!;p

Yeah I didnt want to go to crazy cause I wasnt sure what the problem was LOL

My old truck that i sold pulls hard all the way till it hit the governer at 3700 when you stomp it it pinned you against the seat till you hit the limiter, there is a 2 mile long 7% grade near my house you could hit the mountain at 55 put it in the floor and it would be pushig 70 over the top and thats non turbo and in fourth gear

If I could find a combination that would make 15lbs of boost efficiently from 1500 RPM's and up. I'd be extremely happy.

I can already over fuel @ 1500 rpms. Mainly because I can't get any more than 5 lbs of boost.

yea it only turns that high but im about to fix that by either putting a 7.3 pump i got here that is set to 3700 or i will just put a 4000 rpm spring im gettin from mel, but someone is going to have to give me instuctions on how to change springs so i dont fck it up and really mess something up,

Having messed with this myself, I can offer you this advice. Count the number of turns on EVERYTHING that you touch, and write them down. Your going to find that for as simple as it is, the interaction between the parts that are in there gets very tricky. Knowing the number of turns will allow you to get things back to where they were, which I can guarantee you your going to want to do at least once. LOL

It's the combination of cam and pump timing that makes the 6.2/6.5 run like they do. Looking at the power curves of both engines, the GM has a broader power curve than the 6.9/7.3, even though it does not make as much power.

It's all in the combination, and the GM is better matched for performance use.
As for GM being much better for performance, I don't know. Heath Diesel has to fill the blocks with Hard-blok just so they can hold up to 300 hp, GM blocks may be lighter, but they are still more based off of a gas platform, and just can't hold up. I am still in firm belief that the right amount of tuning and combination of parts can make a reliable engine with around 300 AT THE CRANK. The factory engine was putting out around 185, and with tuning and exhaust can put out around 200 without a turbo, and a turbo adds 50 horsepower or so, and that's only at the lower boost levels.

That's where I'm thinkin the cam and head studs'll come in, helping make that jump. It might take bigger injectors, but I don't know for sure

And like I said earlier, you could always put on propane. But I don't know how much of a gain it is on an IDI

Darrin did some runs with his turbo IDI and propane. It added about 20hp and something like 40ft lbs of torque.

I think Moose injectors are going to be essential, they should flow a lot, and have great atomization.

That's kinda what I was thinking, the pump seems to put out just enough fuel, but the injector flow may not be enough. With enough extra air and a little bit of grill gas, the fuel'll be the only thing a little behind. Now, what kind of turbo options are there for one of these things with head studs? With the high comp ratio, you're not going to be putting up 100 lbs of boost, but what about 20-30 max? Isn't the max without studs around 10-12, safely?
