ford dealer mechanic believes if i'm getting water in the oil and oil in the water that i should replace the oil cooler tube. does everyone agree with that?
Not necessarily, You could have a blown head gasket but then the cooling system would have a lot of pressure or You might even blow white sweet smoke out the tail pipe or better yet a cavitated engine. Of all that oil cooler would be My favorite and easiest to do.
What you describe sounds like the oil cooler o-rings have hardened and are leaking but.. You could have other issues too. I feel your going to have the dealership do any work thats needed so.. Have them remove the oil cooler and at least check the o-rings.
