So.....
Under the waddakukk files,
I started at the rear tank, dash switch on rear tank ( drove home on it).
Put a fuel filter in front of the fsv, cut the feed line into the valve, unhooked the feed line into the factory lift pump and with the line from the fsv loose going to the tank, I put compressed air in from the front , blew out the fuel in the line, then hooked the filter up.

Moved to the front tank did the same thing...... With dash switch showing more fuel than rear( guessing it switched?)

Turn on key, wait for glow relay to shut up....
Kick the button f to r ... Solid clicking, I hear the fsv switch.
Button it all up.

Fire the thing on front tank, runs then starves and dies( duhhhh) refire it, idles fine!
Switch to rear tank never missed a beat???
Killed it and turned the key back on, after the relay ( glows) quits, switch front to rear NADDA NO NUTHING.
its miller time!
41 k on the fsv, may do the oldbull8 job on the spare fav Idiot turned me onto.
front tank went to 19 gallons at empty!
Working the rear now. Last time I ran the rear it went to 18 gals empty.
Both tanks seem to have pickups to bottom of tank.
The facet pump is on the list...
If the shower heads were redone prior to my buying it' And the trash in the tank was not cleared out ( and no filter was installed ,,, this is the case) whats it take to clear the fsv once it sucks trash?

Back to research!
Thanx cb

When I got my '91, the switch did not work correctly.
After overhauling the FSV (this was before I found this forum), it was the same.
Found the problem in the dash switch - it was completely worn out. Replaced
it with a DPDT toggle switch and it has been doing fine ever since.
As an aside, found pretty much the same situation in the ignition switch and
the A/C selector. Age and use (plus the quality of the components) tells.

if you have showerhead dispare i highly suggest you just bite the bullet and drop both tanks and install new ones.
even tho your truck is damn near showroom, its still 20 yrs old.
piece of mind is priceless.

would also make doing the FSV a cinch when the front tank is dropped.

Looking at them dropin pickups posted in the fsv thread.
The front tank is solid still if the rear is bad I'm going into both.
Just a lame setup, but so is having metric and sae bolts on one truck!
Yea the working on a nos appearing truck seems backward, I'm getting over the survivor thing.
"Its a machine get over it" was my answer to all the twinky virgins during the chopper craze

go to install the facet today!
throw the brand new k/m alpha meter on to see if the timming would change, new screen is red, and shows 326 deg's at 2k RIGHT!
now lets see if ups can destroy/loose this one!-cuss

Ya'll make sure yer ground is solid.
Meter's fine.
Me not so much.

Had timing set at 9.3 prior to the electric pump install' looks like it knocked it back a couple of degrees unfortunateley couldn't verify the first timing prior to putting the facet pump in so anyway it runs it's going down the road.
Sounds like what mel states about advance creep?!

Another though
Seeing the timming tabs almost rubbing the ballencer and a half mile away' the spring loading effect may be an issue?!

This has proven 1 thing to me.
The mech pump was costing me above 2700 rpm...
Now I can run right up to 3500 without starving out.
3000 was all in for pulling any load.

Ran 4 tanks thru it so far each went clean to empty;Sweet

Time to hunt down a set of them filter sock dealeo's
The facet feeds alot better than the 23 yr old 40 k lift pump did.

If you mean the shower heads, ebay or amazon have them. Between 35-40$ each. Listed for newer trucks but they sure look the same to me.

Ya don't want those filter socks, there OK for gassers but not for diesel.. Here's what you want for in tank. Pretty sure that same filter is used from 83 to 2016.
