A little late but I had a 79 f150 with a 460 in it. It had a 2 bbl on it. Ran 265/75 r16 tires on the back. C6 trans. I could get 13 if I was easy on the throttle.I also had an old timer tell me that you have to change spark plugs on a 460 all the time. they are only good for about 10,00 miles. If I didn't change them soon enough, it would run fine with the same power, but the milage went down the tube. Can't explain that. Typ4 was right about the timing. I had a 75 that someone had put a 71 429 in. I had to replace the timing chain. No one could get a timing set with gears that matched the marks on mine. I finally went to the machine shop that did our diesel engine machine work. They also built all kinds of race engines. What finally happened was they took one gear from 390 kit and one from a 351c kit and they worked perfectly. All of the auto parts store were giving me the later 460 kits.
