these pans can fairly easily be modified to clear the steering.
shouldnt have to mess with the pick up

on a side note. have you heard of the "dream beams"?
if not google them!

Could you swap in a rack? Might reduce your steering system interference. I know a lot of guys do that on the full size chevy's when they put stupid size engines in for race applications.

I'm not looking for a lot of performance I have driven a n/a idi and am happy with the performance. Just looking for the decent mileage, reliability, and manual trans in a classic.

Yes it came with the discs it is a ranger and discs were an option in 1969, they are factory discs.
Didn't know that! My 69 ranger certainly did not have them. I traded it back in 2000 for a 72 K-20 partly cause my wife hated the front drums and no power steering.

Like IDIoit said go ahead and do everything thing for a turbo while its out and easy.
Thats what I'm going to do with my 86 I don't want a turbo now but might later so I'm getting it ready for one. I have taken a turbo off a 6.9 it's no easy task so putting one on will be just as hard.

I installed the one on my 92 it wasn't horrible. To make clearance for the turbo piping I would have to do heavy modifications to the fire wall. If I move the motor forward anymore it will be in the radiator and to fit pipes in I will have to push that area of the firewall in 2". I understand it would be cool to have a turbo, but if I decide later on to do it, I am designing the motor mounts easily accessible. When they are finished I will post pics.
