I had issues with my SMF and luk with all new parts. The new pressure plate was not set correctly. I pulled it out and took it to a clutch shop that had a clutch table. They adjusted it and was fine ever since. I posted about my experience on this forum.
These are old trucks that were never meant to be quiet, unlike the luxo barges on the road today. Mine makes a bit more noise at very low rpm's, but nothing that would be considered annoying.
I think too many over think the oil issue. Use good oil and filter and change it as required. I have done engine tear downs on turbo charged engines with 200k+ miles and the bearings were fine each time. And by that I mean I plastigauged them them and they were all still withing spec. I have...
I need new tires, and like my 33x12.5x16.5 that are on my truck, but tires are no longer available. I imagine that I am not the first to make the switch to a different wheel. What is the size to go with that is similar to what I have now, and what wheel to fit that tire? TIA.
Looks good. Add a futon mattress for each one, and you will have a comfortable sleeping area. With so much room, there is lots you could do. Makes me wonder if making one side a bunk bed is possible.
As a commercial driver in Texas, your personal infractions are tied to your CDL. I can't imagine that you would risk your livelihood on such a trivial matter. Risk versus reward should be factored into every decision you make. You are better off paying for a tow truck than taking the risk you...
What you hear is called alternator whine. It is most commonly caused by bad grounding. Better quality amps and head units have filters for this, as it was a common problem in the early days of car stereo.
Smaller tubes have a greater surface area, and that is what aids in cooling. Fins per inch is another factor. You want lots of tubes and fins. Air flow has nothing to do with number of tubes, unless it was so ill designed that air could not flow through it, which I have never seen. To put it...
I use the cheapest insulation on a roll I can find. Heavier is better. Never tried liquid or spray on. Be sure to do the doors, as lots of noise comes in through them. If you can, do a layer behind the door panel and another layer on the door skin. Big flat panels, especially if thin, will...
Even if it was towed, you could have gotten it out the next morning.
I say this so often, I added it to my sig:
There are people who makes things happen and get things done and there are people who make excuses.
Police are often wrong, and will yield when pressed. I HAVE been in a very similar situation with a car being wrecked. They said the SAME thing, but I stood my ground, and told him to get his supervisor here. Supervisor told him I could have it towed somewhere else. I also talked to the tow...
Wrong. You had a choice. You can have it towed anywhere you want. They are yours and you can get them at any time. You can either fight for what is yours or get used, its your choice.
It's your truck, you don't have to sell it to the insurance co if you don't want to. When someone totaled one of my cars that I wanted to keep, I told them I wanted the amount they were going to give me AND retain the vehicle. They agreed quickly, as it had no value to them.
From what you describe, I think the truck needs far more work than its worth. Decent trucks can still be found at bargain prices, I always say the drive time to get a good truck is the best investment you will ever make.
