Well it does but I'm still stuck here. I'm to the point now seemingly where I should have 4 slots on my spindle nut where I need the spindle socket. But I only have 1 slot, like in my first picture. This is where my confusion is coming from because I haven't seen anything like it. Am I not far enough into the process to pull the nut yet? And if not what needs to be done? Thank you all for your help. Everything is much appreciated.

Might I suggest you clean the crap outta there grease etc so we can see better.

I only see the key slot in the spindle that the LOCK washer with holes rides in. I did not see anything on your spindle nut and actually cannot see it clear in 1st pic.

So looks like someone has incorrect hardware in there.

The locking washer witb holes...can you pull it out?

Couple pair snap ring pliers gelrab it...magnets...o ring pics...etc.

There is clearly a HEX style nut in there behind the lock ring....totally incorrect sadly.

I think you don't have the splined washer out. My guess is slide it out, then the locking ring with the holes and then the inner nut with the spanner socket but I can't be sure. You'll have to compare your stack with the manual pics.

Are you referring to the slot on the spindle (the threaded tube)? That has nothing to do with what we are talking about. That is a key way slot (not needed) in our trucks.

Thanks! I guess tomorrow I'll go out and see if I can see the splined spacer and try to get it out. I appreciate it everyone. I'll update tomorrow.

Well folks, turns out the tool I needed was a 2 3/4in rounded hex socket. Took it right out and managed to get all my ball joints replaced and back together. Thank you everyone for the help!

My 93 has auto locks, and has the setup like everyone thought it should be. The OP's is definitely different than mine.
