Duralift pump failure...? Its the ooze..

All this talk of ***** in my thread, but no pics. Haha. I found Aircraft Spruce to be $2 higher for the part, but $3 cheaper once shipping was figured in for a total. Plus, the Spruce is a major company I'm familiar with. :D...

Duralift pump failure...? Its the ooze..

Since GenLightning is out, whats the new source for these things that isnt $150 like Napa or $189.99 like my local ThermoKing dealer? Prefer <$100. Only paid $90 for this one..

Duralift pump failure...? Its the ooze..

@clb An internal meltdown is what I was thinking as well. I've had plenty of experience with these pumps on reefers, and this is the first failure that I've seen that wasnt purely mechanical in nature. @icanfixall Of course I'd have the first. Haha. I always end up with crap, but make...

Duralift pump failure...? Its the ooze..

I guess I should clarify that. I haven't run any waste oil though it since the new pump was installed. Only brown on-road diesel (they do 5-20% bio by default around here, so its not green anymore). It was driven daily for those several months before it was parked for more than a year indoors.

Duralift pump failure...? Its the ooze..

Installed a Duralift from GenLightning back in Nov 2013. Had no issues at all with daily driving. Truck remained parked in my warehouse from July 2014 until yesterday (Mid August 2015). Aside from having to give her a little jump to get fired, everything seemed normal. I ended up running...

    Steering problems?

This slop is a problem? Every old Ford I have ever owned or driven on a regular basis (82 big Bronco, 89 Big Bronco, 93 250, 88 FSuper, 90 350) has had all sorts of slack in the steering. Its part of what makes these old geezers fun. My '90 has enough slop to turn from 9:00 to 13:00 with no...

    Chasing a Fuel Leak

Fuel tank full, or recently filled when this happened? In my case, I've got a magic leak somewhere on my tank, that lets diesel flow out, but not water. Filling the front tank between the 13-15gal marks, fuel will drip between the cab and bed, and make a neat almost solid line trail if I...

    Dreaded headlight switch color codes?

Thats exactly what I needed. It has clear designations for wire color leaving the headlight switch. I found many similar showing just connections, but lacking the colors. At least now I know where my target wires connect to, and can simply replace them rather than cutting it all out of the loom.

    Dreaded headlight switch color codes?

My GoogleFu, on this topic, seems weak, and I cannot find the information I seek. ;) Basically, anybody have a simple list as to what colors are connected to what with regards to the headlight switch? I've got one thats partially melted out of its insulation, and I'd like to know where it...

    Bullnose/Slantnose Diesel Picture Thread

Jeezus.... $600 digital cluster; BEFORE you get the extra sensors. Looks top notch nonetheless. ;Sweet http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=219/category_id=69/mode=prod/prd219.htm If I ever get a huge injury settlement, I'd be game.

    joy was bitter sweet...

You can test the ignition switch function by jumping the solenoid from the ignition switch trigger to the feed side of the solenoid with a screwdriver. If the truck turns over, its something upstream thats bad..ala ignition switch. That is, if of course the batteries are still good...

"And there arose such a clatter!"

Thread Semi-Hijack... Mel, Since its a more common failure, what causes those pistons to stick? Is it simply wear/age, or fuel related gunk buildup? I'd love to get a new Baby Moose, but I'm satisfied with stock, and I'd like to keep what I've got going as long as possible. :D /Hijack

    hard to start/will not start.

Have you tested the glow plugs with a test light or ohm meter? Quick run down: Disconnect ALL EIGHT glow plugs from their harness. Make sure the harness does not touch any plugs or the manifold as this could screw the results. Connect plug from your testlight to the POSITIVE (+) battery...

    Bypassing fuel tank selector valve

If you dropped the tanks rather than pulling the bed, simply clean them out. Soapy water, a bunch of rolling around, immediately dry with a fan or warm sun, reach in and grab whatever bits are left, and then a swish of diesel to keep it from flash rusting. Then you can have an "open" pickup...

I guess I cannot use my rear tank now

+1. This way is indeed easiest if you have an extra person to help. Although in my case, I've got a steel flatbed bolted down on the frame, which happens to be welded to the frame back around the hitch area. Sucking the fuel and dropping the tank was my only option. Theres two straps on the...
