I recently picked up an '85 f250 supercab with the 6.9L IH. I know it's somewhat off subject but if you have an opinion or experience with replacing the headliner I'd appreciate any input before I tear it out this weekend.

By the way, this site is exactly what I was looking for. Great.

Welcome! ;Sweet The headliner is just a piece of cardboard with fabric on it. I'm not sure if there are any tricks getting it in or out of a supercab. You can check the links in the FAQ tread at the top to see if you can find a replacement.

I believe that it is too large to come out of the door, and may need to come out of the windshield? Let us know...

Ouch, I hadn't even thought about getting it out the door. The windshield has no cracks and the seal is still good so I'd rather not remove it, but that may be the only option. Thanks for the heads up.

Pull the front seat/s and it will come out the door with a little effort. Would be good to have a trusted helper so you don't kink the cardboard. The cloth can be pulled off, and the base cleaned up from the old foam backing. Respray it with fresh fabric glue and stick down some fresh headliner material. You will be good to go.

pull the back glass. much easier than the windshield. I cheat on my headliner jobs. there's a aftermarket company that has the old style bow headliner kit Much easier to install. does take some work getting the corners glued down right without ripples but you won't have to do it again...ever.

I also have put in the bow and fabric headliner on my crew cab. I didn't have to remove any glass to put it in.
