So I'm trying to figure out what drivetrain I have under this thing. Turns out it is sort of an oddball compared to the IDI's I've had in the past. In the door jam it says manufactured 10 of 84.
For starters I was surprised to see something other than a Sterling in the rear. The rear looks like a Dana and it has 70-18U stamped on the front of the casing with 3.54 written on the tag. Is it safe to say this is a Dana 70U? It has the teardrop housing...
Also the transfercase isn't like the big ol' 1356 in my 91. It looks much smaller, chain drive, aluminum case and all I can make from the stamp on the casing is BorgWarner 1345 (or 1354..) Any ideas? I don't think it is the rare Ford NP208 and definitely not the NP205.
Lastly I'm assuming it has the T--19. Would this be the one with the very low first gear or is it like the T-19 that I had in my 86? I have always toyed with the idea of replacing my ZF-5 with a T19. If this is the T-19 is it a dud or is it a good one? and will my 1356 bolt onto it?
Front is the D44 TTB
what a pos! lol.
Thanks for any help!
