water pump pulley rubbing side of serpentine belt

got a new serpentine belt today cause other was dry rotted and now the belt is running up on the flange of water pump pulley and rubbing the side of it,everything else lines up but the water pump pulley,what could this be the cause of?thanks

what dsd said if you don't change it it will **** your ppump up and other things..

What he said, been there, done that... If you need proof grab your 5/8 and pull on the tensioner as if you were changing a belt but watch it, it will tilt as it moves.

my steering pump pulley is goin in and out with a lil bit of play could that be throwing it off?i mean ive check the tensioner and it seems good.thanks
