I would bet the house its because of the block heater. Either that or its the block heater itself. Wonder what it looks like for $500?

How big of a deal is a crack in theblock cause of the heater? Does it weaken it significantly or hit water or oil?

You should be able to get that motor for $200. Yech, you're probally right about the location of the crack.

on the 7.3l that is exactly where they are, but the guy is selling the engine, if so He can easily look at the block and tell if it is a crack or the block heater o-ring is gone. If it is only the o-ring then that is a good deal for $200
