Turbo silencer ring

Can i take it out, mine is a 04/03 build date. Thanks and anytips on it?

If the Garret turbos are anything like the Holsets..... there will be a snap ring of sorts holding in the silencer baffle/ring. I just took a small screwdriver to the ring on the Dodge/Cummins I had and it just popped right out.... ring followed right with it.

I dont know the specifics on the Powerstrokes, just the Cummins. sorry I couldnt be of more help. and I dont have a manual to read either.

The Silencer Ring on my truck is cast into the turbo..... the only way I can get it out is if I cut it out....

I think the 03 turbos had a way of taking them out without machining not sure though

Mine i have to maching out to by the looks of it

I heard that it is a waste of time to take t out of an 05 or 06 truck...... Just not worth the time or effort

Has anybody done it on an '04? I just bought one and my last truck was an early '99. I miss the sound

The 04's have to be machined off. Straight pipe it if you want the sound. At the very least remove that CAT. 03's whistle like a jet, I heard one today. The 04's will sing too, just not as loud.

Anyone got a pic or a good description of the "silencer ring", I have heard it before and still don't know what it is.
