Well, after 100K or so, its time for injectors. HAd the necessary stuff off to do a t-stat so figured since im in there and have injectors and glow plugs id go for it.
Its a good thing, return lines looked fine but the second I touched them they broke.
All the glow plugs came out without issue, the one under the turbo Im still working on, the "special" socket was at home, they squeaked all the way due to shaving carbon off on the way out. But otherwise look fine I am putting in new and will use old ones for spares.
The 2 drivers side injectors in the back had water seep past the threads and were a little rusty, rest were fine, I will post pics later. Copper seals were doing the job
Im very curious to see how it runs with new injectors.
On a happy note the turbo is as tight as the day it was put on.
I need to get the cdr plumbed to the exhaust, the oil in the turbo is icky.
All in all im very happy with it as I have not layed a wrench on the engine since I built it, except for a water pump.:hail

Have you had a timing meter on this engine recently? It would be interesting to know the before / after timing readings from swapping in new injectors.

While it is fun to tinker at times, it sure is rewarding to have something that you just don't have to worry about! Sounds like you'll be good for another 100k after a few hours work.

have you thought about using a turbo blanket? i think the return lines are getting heat soaked really bad. turbo trucks just fall apart if you look at them too hard

havent you been running some junker injectors this whole time?

I should have, because it runs SOOOO much better . Even to the trained ear you dont realize the degredation of the fuel system.
I will be going to china freight for 2 3/8 gearwrenches to bend to reach that damn under the turbo glow plug:mad::mad:
