That is just far enough away that I can say that's cool and leave it at that.

When I was a kid me and my dad went and looked at a 3/4 ton 4x4 travelall with the big motor...I think a 392? Does that sound right?

392 was the bigger dump truck motor I believe so it's possible although I think the 345 was the most common. I think it's another of those where it was the same block kind of deals. My buddy really beats himself up for getting rid of his scout 2. I towed a early 70s travel all he bought for parts from Chattanooga to Nashville with my half ton GMC, on a uhaul trailer. The look on the guy's face at the scout place was priceless when I pulled in the yard with that rig. I'd still have that truck if it hadn't got wrecked and started eating tcases. I was impressed coming up mount eagle at 60 with that. But I digress.

The 345 was the most common V8, but the pickups and Travelalls did have the 392 as an option. And, like laserjock noted, the 345 and 392 (and the 304) were the same block...so, while the Scouts didn't come stock with a 392, swapping one in was a pretty easy task :D
