I am installing a ZF 5 speed along with a Dana 60 front axle in my 84 F-250HD with a 6.9 engine. I have both the 1354 and the 1356 manual shift transfer cases but I was wondering if I could use an electric shift 1356 case or a different one thats rated for over 8500 gvw? Dan

All of those transfer cases should be rated over 8500gvw. My truck is rated at 8600gvw and has a BW 1345. If you wanted to upgrade, I would go with the manual shift 1356, or some sort of np transfer case.

4 speed transfer case......-Drool

Before deciding make sure that your current driveshaft yoke will still fit as there could be a size difference between the 1345 and 1356 (I think).

A NP205 is one of the best options for our trucks. Got one in mine, their hard to kill, a still avail. in some boneyards.
