Ok, weird deal. My 92 7.3 non-turbo IDI had a catastrophic transmission failure during a vacation trip . AAMCO rebuilt the transmission (E40D). Then I noticed white smoke when going downhill with slight to neutral throttle. Its unburnt fuel, not oil or coolant, and only occurs during downhill decelleration with very very slight throttle. Positive throttle or zero throttle clears it up.
The major difference I notice is that the transmission no longer disengages during downhill decelleration. Before this rebuild, if I took my foot off of the pedal, it seemed to coast, as if it was in neutral. Now, I can feel that its always engaged.
Any idears? Thanks guys.
