That's good to know, Scott probably got his quick cause he's a little closer than either of us to Canada. I bought mine on the 15th or 16th I think right after you got yours.

The other thing to remember is coming from Canada, it may not be a slow shipper...the person moving everything through the border may be taking a long time as well. I was impressed with how quick mine made it, hopefully yours will be there soon or you already have it. While I'm not affiliated, I'd hate to think I recommended a sham, but I honestly think that since two of us got them, you will get yours as well.

When ordering things from Canada, expect a month delay and be happy if it comes any sooner. Customs can be a real bear of a delay. I order parts from all over the world and it always amazes me how I can regularly get parts from Europe in 4-6 days but Canada rarely takes under 3 weeks cookoo

Man, I hope it doesn't take that long.... but it's good to know my current wait time is not too far out of the ordinary so far. One of us will have to get a video of the timing procedure with this thing for Seawalkersee. I really want to pop test my injectors and do my return lines first. Hopefully there's something to be gained with timing and/or replacing bad components, my fuel mileage is just around 15mpg with mostly country/slow highway driving this week. Not terrible but it should be better.

Just thought I'd let you guys know I got the adapter today. It's NOS it looks like owners manual, lumy probe and all the rest, it appears in pristine condition. I felt this needed clarification as I did not want to call the seller's good name into question without cause. I'll let you all know how it works and where I am timing wise. Thanks for the support.

After looking at this meter though I think you have to time with the luminosity specs though not pulse specs. This is fine with me, the specs are very strange though as they use a 20* offset and 4-8* ATDC as the timing spec for the 6.9, but no rpm spec. Sounds like maybe it needs to be 0-1* ATDC at 1400 rpm.

I just bought one, what does a n/a 7.3 get timed to? I think I read stock is 8btdc and 9btdc is where we should put it.

I might do some asking around on this. If it is a luminosity meter like I think it is I'd put it between 0-1*ATDC at 1400 rpm or if it generates a pulse then it would be 8.5* BTDC at 2000. Now some of the members here have adjusted the timing to 9.7* BTDC @2000 for the higher cetane and lower BTUs/unit of ULSD. Biodiesel and SVO would be similar....

That is going to be an interesting trick since I don't know of any advance timing lights that allow you to preset for after top dead center even snap ons most expensive $400 one won't read after top dead center, only before :dunno

It kind of sounds like you may have found why these things are being yarded out. the pulse generated by a line expansion occoures before the flame that triggers a lumy probe so unless there were in internal delay circuit to compensate, you would have to use the lumy specs, but that is not possible with a timing light, unless you measure your balancer and buy a stick on calibrated timing mark set from a racing supply( assuming one is made to match that diameter ) and figure it from there.

Or you could figure out which cyl. would put the meter where you want it and measure off of it. Like if (I do not know the order so this is purely an example) you used cyl. #5 and continued to time it off of #1. Then, there could be enough overlap to make it work.

Has anyone used these yet to time their engine? If so how did it work?

That's a whole lot a calculating. Brain hurts:confused:

I'm getting a feeling this unit was designed as a replacement signal generator for a specific timing unit and someone thought they could sell it as a stand alone without fully understanding the concept.

ok I need some help with this, I got the timing set today. In the manual it says the offset is 20 atdc. then it says ignition advance settings 4-8 atdc.

I just dont know what to set it to id like to get my actual timing at 9.5 If I understand this right I would need to be at 11.5atdc on the balancer or set it with a light with the advance at -11.5 and be at the 0 mark.

My light doesnt to into the atdc so that sucks. Just looking for some more advice.

I found on the diesel stop it said some figured out the degree spacing on the balencer and its 1/16" a degree. So I could time it with a light that way but how many degrees should I put it at?
