My 2000 Excursion has been sitting dead for a while now. My ex-girlfriend drove it to work and it wouldn't start. I remember that nothing happens when the key is turned. No cranking, no clicking, nothing. What are some things I might check? I thought maybe neutral safety switch. Anything else?

My buddys excursion has a similar sounding problem but he has to start his in neutral or he can shift it down then put it back in park and it will start. I don't know if that will work for you or not but its a cheap thing to try

Fuses were checked and I tried starting in neutral. This happened over a year ago so I will try both again. I need to pick up a couple of batteries first.

If it is not doing anything then it is not the neutral switch, you should get lights etc. If it is intermittent I would guess you have a bad relay, they like to play that game.

It is parked about a half hour from any computer, so I would like to have a list of things to run through. Which relay and where is it?

could be the fender mounted solenoid. i just had to replace mine the other day. i tested it by taking a screwdriver and bridging the two large terminals. it cranked when i did, so it was an easy $10.00 repair.
