Fourteen ton don't accelerate to fast with an underpowered engine. If you want a 5 to 7 MPG that's what you'll get, along with a Go and Stop and long hours of Idleing. Better check on what transmission it has in it, if it's an Allision, there darn expensive to overhaul or repair. If it has air brakes, a CDL is required. Do a lot of research on it.

I owned one once, but it was a gasser, put a 2 speed rear end in it, with a 5 speed OD transmission. Was a gas hog even with that. Converted it to a Motor Home, then it has to be inspected.

I have a CDL-Air Brake endorsement, so the Air Brake thing is moot, though the bus doesn't have them.

I'm actually thinking of maybe bobbing off the bodywork about six feet ahead of the Rear axle, and using it to tow with. It's 29800 GVW makes that beast sorta attractive.

It has that S-T-U-P-I-D Allison auto, but that's also moot as I've been eying converting it to a stick, maybe something along the lines of a 8-speed Eaton/Fuller Roadranger, or maybe a nice heavy Dana trans.

By my reckoning, as there wouldn't be any extranious weight, the whole rig, including the traile would most likely be at or about that 29,800 GVW, so that's nice.

It's now looking more likely that the company will likely sell the Air Brake Freightliner/Bluebird 77 pass.
