starter swap didn't work

After reading about it and being assured :) that it would work,
I swapped out the direct drive starter with one off a Cummins.
Just spins - never engages. Tested on the floor before install -
bendix moves out. Enough? Dunno. It is a used starter
(history unknown).

And the reduction starters (Mean Green, etc.) look very similar to the
Cummins starter.
Is there a difference in pinion depth on a '91 automatic?

Who said cummins would fit???

There have been some specific threads re starters...there is a DB Electrical 2 bolt that fits..

Best be showin what you mean and digging up some of these threads for info

It was a recent starter thread. A few people said they'd bolt up and work.
