shift kit install

I am looking real hard at the trans-go tugger shift kit for my E4OD. I have never installed anything like this. Has anyone installed this kit? Or another? how hard is it? Something a Trans novice can do with the trans in the truck?

i know the trans has to come out of the truck for the install. i almost had one installed to replace my Banks Transcommand. let me know how it goes for you. still want to get the tugger for my 4r100 to firm up the mushy TC lockup. IIRC it's the same kit for either trans.

ds--believe some of the mods have to be done with it out--but a smaller version probably doesnt require removal--so read instructions carefully before you start--

Don't remember which kit I installed but it wasn't to bad. I didn't have to pull the tranny.The directions were pretty straight forward. Its just a dirty job, drain tranny pull pan, remove valve body and insert what they tell you into the valve body then reinstall. Fill the tranny and let it rip

Should only have to remove the tranny to do the front pump mods.

Sounds like it comes with good instructions. Don't know why I am so hesitant to go into the tranny... the magic box I guess.

I figure if I do the tugger, then I can add electronics later if needed.

I got the ReCal Pro™ AOD-E/4R70W Valve Body Recalibration Kit from Bauman for mine. Haven't installed it yet, but the instructions look fairly simple. Trans. does not have to be removed for this kit.

You can do it!!

Difficult no. messy? Oh yea. When the valve body is off, you will have a slow shower of ATF as you work. The pics will be showing you how things look when the trans is on a bench facing belly up. You or some close to you will need to go to the local pharmacy to get the 1lb jar of vaseline. Why? to hold the valve body checkballs in.
