Here’s the thing I noticed today driving on my home-brew, in the 1997 PSD- Nothing.
I had the exact same temps @70mph. Sounded the exact same. Turbo spool seemed the same. Barely smelled different.

In my old IDI(may it Rest In Peace) the motor sounded very different. Temps were hotter a little bit too. Even after adjusting timing.

I’ve always assumed it was because the computer can control the air/fuel ratio. Not over fueling, it would run cooler. When I turned my pump up 2 flats I saw about 200* increase, 4” exhaust dropped it 100* though. I’m n/a though so ignore this post if necessary lol

It will not control air/fuel ratio. Lol
Some of the newest common rail trucks might to some degree.
But there were no sensors in the exhaust up until the 6.4.

It still leans the fuel to limit boost in stock form though

Not really, timing and metering is what changes your boost pressures in a diesel, and your afr in the gas world. The general mechanics being the same with any combustion engine, you could say it’s changing the afr just not sensing it through the exhaust. Even IDIs change the afr to help aid warmup. IP adds more fuel and advances timing when cold.

I could agree with that.
Nut just a blanket statement saying the pcm in a psd will "auto adjust" for bio/wf's is way off. Agree? Or naw?
