RPM Limit

What is the rpm limit set on the injection pump, im gonna order a tachometer and it has to be calibrated and i dont have a timing light with the rpm reader and i was just thinking of talking it to the rpm limit and calibrate it there because i change the idle rpm

factory 7.3 tach has readings up to 4500 rpms, with the yellow starting at 3400 and the red starting at 3800 rpms. The IP governor should be maxing out at about 3700 rpms, 3200 or sometimes even less for a school bus or a big truck engine.

mine cuts me off about 3300-3400 right at the yellow lines

Mine goes past that, but not by much, I'd say 3600?

probaly if i set it at 3500 rpms it sould be good, but im not sure

most diesel tachs I've seen run up to 4k so you're covered there, but I'd probably calibrate it at idle (go for 650 rpm right after you drop off high idle, that's usually about right), then bring it up to WOT and see where it's at and do additional adjustments if possible and needed.

the tach goes to 5k, what does the high idle selenoid take the rpms to, because i changed the idle
