This is my second post here. Just bought a '91 7.3 IDI that has had what appears to be a factory turbo setup put on at some point. The previous owner has had the truck for 15 years, and is not the one who put the turbo on, but says he believes it to be a factory setup. It does have the "Ford Turbo" OEM looking airbox/manifold so at first glance it does appear to be a factory setup.
Anyway....What the previous owner did tell me is that when he bought the truck it had a "road draft" tube on the crankcase vent. He didn't like that, so he routed the crankcase vent right into the intake. He told me about a valve that is supposed to go in there, but he just routed it straight in without the valve. I've done some searching here about the CDR valve, and I guess I should go ahead and get one. I'm wondering if I just need the valve by itself, or if there are fittings to go along with it? I have no idea what it is "supposed" to look like, but I do know that this one is leaking from the connection at the valve cover and is making a mess of everything underneath the truck, including my driveway. Would the CDR valve being in place help keep oil from getting out of the valve cover at all, thus curing my leak? Or is the leak likely due to a poor seal or connection at the valve cover? I haven't messed with this much yet but it appears as if it is on pretty tight, but definitely leaks oil.
Thanks for the insight
